Pitchers getting "wins" and "losses" - the dumbest stat in baseball

come in to a tie game, give up 4 runs, have your team score 5 in the bottom of the inning and you're in line for the win.

pitch 9 innings, give up 1 unearned, your team scores 0, you get the loss. the one guy who did his job gets the loss.

teams win, not pitchers, lets fix that MLB.

Hanson gives up a run in the first last Sunday and loses 1-0 in a 5 inning rain shortened game

i like looking at WHIP,ERA and Ks

ERA is a decent stat.
WHIP a bit better.
K:BB ratio is a good one.

Did the O's pitcher leave the game losing 4-1 and get the win?

I agree mo, this is ridiculous.

Javy Vazquez should have gotten the 'loss' today, but got off on a technicality.

Another perfect example of this today as KC loses 1-0:

<table class="yspwhitebg" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr class="yspsctbg"><td colspan="11" class="ysptblhdr" height="19"> Kansas City</td> </tr> <tr class="ysptblthbody2" align="right"> <td width="32%" height="18"> </td> <td class="yspdetailttl" width="7%">IP</td> <td class="yspdetailttl" width="7%">H</td> <td class="yspdetailttl" width="7%">R</td> <td class="yspdetailttl" width="7%">ER</td> <td class="yspdetailttl" width="7%">BB</td> <td class="yspdetailttl" width="7%">K</td> <td class="yspdetailttl" width="7%">HR</td> <td class="yspdetailttl" width="7%">WHIP</td> <td colspan="2" class="yspdetailttl" width="19%">Season ERA </td> </tr> <tr class="ysprow1" align="right"> <td align="left"> Z. Zack Greinke has a 2.17 ERA the last 2 seasons and the Royals are 18-21 in his starts
