Lol, poor Newport. Thinks that because he knows a few people willing to risk more on the roulette wheel that he's qualified to say whether I could make it as a so-called "pro".

I'm confident I could do no worse than 99.9% of others, including many many "pros". The insinuation that just because I gamble I should admire that lifestyle is laughable though. I work 8-5 and get paid for it. I never have to pay money when I leave, I don't stress out over my paycheck being on a 20year olds shoulders...I'm in a better +EV situation than anybody in Vegas. I have a nice secondary income due to gambling, but as I said, have no desire to make a career out of beating the juice. The fact that I see gambling in that light isn't due to any sort of inability.

Winning the Hilton is luck, just like winning in the NFL is luck.

Not a lot different than a big poker tournament. Sure, you can get your money in with the best hand (pick off stale lines), but you can still loose. Similarly, you can go on a heater and just get some lucky breaks for a couple games even though you might be making the long-term statistically-based "bad" move/play.

That's variance. That's luck. That's gambling.

I'd rip on fezzik too if he claimed to be worth a damn and caused me to lose money.

But, I learned long, long ago that following anybody is a terrible idea. I would never even think about paying somebody for picks.

So much better than the rest of us, in fact, that she could get away with charging 3k for some advice on which numbers we should pick for ourselves? Of course not. And yet, some gamblers are stupid enough to dish out for a "professionals" plays. The stupidity of paying for those plays is magnified if those plays are for the NFL and not a niche sport like college hoops, golf, or tennis too.

There's nothing wrong with that at all, because in the end I'm probably the same thing, and for you to say you wouldn't want to gamble for a living is dumber than hell. You mean, you wouldn't want to be so good at this that you don't have to go to your 8-5 anymore because you make enough money betting? That makes no sense at all. Pros at this are the same as people in the Stock Market; those are just facts. There are plenty of professions that are a gamble and I really find it hard to believe that someone who gambles as much as you and loves talking sports wouldn't want to do it for a living if he were good enough.

How is he ripping off anyone? Was there a guarantee? This is gambling and people trusted him enough to send him money and he had a bad year; that's gambling and you're gambling on him just as you are on your plays.

I'm only 6'6" 230 and still think I'm 205 because I'm only a little bloated from medication, but I'm pretty sure I could still dunk on Fezzik on a bad day. Assuming I stay in remission I'll probably be able to pull off a two-handed dunk by the summer, and I might even be able to match him in the hair department.

Well I guess Chris Moneymaker is a legend winning the 2003 World Series of poker! I PM him last week asking him why does he only bet us QTR lines, he has yet to respond back, and YES I work for a MAJOR BOOK, and YES we BOOK high........
