My Idea

Run it for a full season, however break it down into 2 parts using the All Star Break as the middle point..

Require 10 plays a week, no Favorites over say -160/-170
Most Units will decide the winners

First Half of the Season Prizes

First
Second
Third

Come the All Star Break, each person will go back to square one again (but the first half standings will still come into play towards complete season winner)

Second Half Season Prizes

First
Second
Third


Complete Full Season Prizes

First
Second


I like this format incase you start off bad the first half of the season you are not completely out of it and still have a shot at the second half of the season prizes and everyone will stay interested instead of giving up...

Just need to decide a entry fee to get in, my suggestion would be $200 (remeber baseball is a long ass season and the entry fee breaks down to not much a week if you think about it)

At BetPhoenix I assume? Would be cool if you could get BetJamaica in on this. I'd be truly amazed if you could pull 5dimes.

I'd possibly be interested depending on the amount matched as prize money by a book and what, if any, the rollover is on any prizes. I have no interest in just throwing away $200 for a chance at a 10%-15% improved pot and 5x rollover if I'm going up against the kind of sharp guys that usually show up for these things like Tomorrow's Newspaper and trytrytry.

I would say 15 plays a week. I mean on the weekends, there is a full slate each week. Also, that requires people to make more picks near the end of the month when they are ahead. It would make it more interesting.


And if you cant take favorites above -160, then you also shouldnt be able to take underdogs greater than +160


I will play for sure, but you need to set a limit for the biggest dog. Maybe +160 or +180. Or better yet, just make it -200 for favorites and +200 limit for dogs

1st session april-june, 12 weeks
7 picks per week, 1 play a BB worth 2x; sides & totals only based on lines posted; no favs over -160
100 ENTRY fee, to be used for weekly prizes in some format; entry fee must be new deposit or cash in account; free play winnings that haven't been rolled over cannot be used
sponsoring sportsbook will add xxx amount for overall prize at end of 3 months (assuming certain active requirements met at book by winners and x # of players enter contest)
all prizes carry 4-6x rollover

if enough interest will do for july-september

You have to make the entry fee higher than $100. The season is just too long for only a $100 entry. Make it $200 or $300.


And gottabet, you have to set a limit on the dogs as well if you are going to limit the favorites. And at the low number of -160, that limits the amount of games on a Sunday for instance. But you cant allow dogs bigger than +160 to count if you limit the favorites. I still suggest to make both of the limits -200 and +200

why have any limits? If it was so easy playing big dog or big favorites there wouldnt be lines on those games. I would love to see the different strategies using the big dogs or favs. I would say no run lines though. Would be nice if someone real lines would be used. Not stale lines or PO making up lines that didnt exist.

it would be 200 for the season if enough interest... hence the part about the first session lasting until june and possible second session starting in july....

i don't care if there is limits or not... actually based on TN idea the bookmaker contest format where the type of picks changes each week would be interesting as well (totals 1 week, dogs 1 week, favs 1 week, run lines 1 week, etc.)..

i'm just throwing idea's out...

How about runlines?? Think it would be better if we went with early posted lines on this site---only 15 games max. Love our basketball hockey contest, but guys are pulling lines from all over the place.

Exactly. No reason to limit moneylines at all.

Lines should try to be posted around Noon-1pm each day. Sure, they'd be a bit stale, but not horribly so and that's just part of strategy if a line moves .15-.20. No different than the $1500 Hilton contest.

How about a contest where there are winners every month. Contest starts woth only 100 deposit per player and player must deposit 100 every month to stay in the contest till the end of the season or he is eliminated.
That way there is always money coming in to the contest from those serious about a season long contest.

The issue with that is people dropping out after say one month, it's hard enoughbto get people to post up these days one let Alone every 30 days or so.

Beaners idea is good, but it doesnt really tell who the best capper is at that time.


I mean that is limiting picks to 1 per day or so and you CANNOT take the teams that you want near the end. I think that Beaners idea would be best in a NONPOSTUP SITUATION. If we are posting up the cash, then we need to be able to take any game of the day with no limitations.


We need to get this set up soon though, unless we start on May 1st
