Good luck with your picks tomorrow, JK. But choosing 4 overs in one day seems very BeanTownJim like! :btj:

Re: A March to Pointspread Glory

I'm 15-19 over the past seven days after an 0-3 performance tonight. No need to panic.

I love tournament basketball and I'm confident the winners are on the horizon.

As for being a specialist, I'm betting only what I know. I don't look at more than half the college card.

Now give me a winner at Oaklawn Park.

You got it. Been crushing OP & FG.

Re: A March to Pointspread Glory

Bad day at Black Rock.

Three plays, three stone-cold losers.

"A March to Pointspread Glory" is off to a rough start.

ATS record-to-date: 15-19.

JK you are one of the good guys in vegas., LOTS of big money bettors lost in the past weekend as many favorites came in....dont sweat it it.. i disagreed with you on st marys but usually u are very insightfulll.... u will be ahead at the end of march as will most of us big guys... keep up the good work, and keep up the radio show..u usually have good guests with some exceptions

I agree, it seemed any time Gonzaga was involved, pro or con, we lost. Fuck the Zags.2938u4ji23

It is always hard to follow a capper.....no matter how good they are (and JK is normally one of the best in CBB)......when their focus is being taken away by other things.

Being a good handicapper requires huge amounts of time, effort and discipline. And then a lot of luck as well. If JK is doing a good job running EOG on a daily basis, the hours it takes to do this are interfering with his handicapping time. How could they not?

If you take a look at the results over the last five months, it is pretty obvious. You can't serve two masters at the same time, and be exceptionally good at both.

Take our old buddy, Micelli. Just the mere mention of his name gives certain EOG posters a hard-on.

He was a very good CBB capper for a long time. Then he got married, spent a lot of hours in his job, and had a son. All of that interfered with his ability to handicap games. In fact, since the birth of his son, he is down about 40 units in CBB, and has pretty much closed up the shop as far as posting selections.

I hope JK goes 5 and 0 today, since I am throwing down a little bit on each game. But following him with serious money at this point is a mistake as long as his attentions are divided.

I don't think EOG and his handicapping has anything to do with his SLUMP, I've seen great one's have a losing season but at the end the CREAM comes to the top... its all about LONGTERM... just my .02.

Re: A March to Pointspread Glory

Big East totals are coming down.
UConn 136
Rutgers 129
Nova 126.5

The market seems to be reacting to the low scoring games of late in the Big East. Makes sense, scoring is typically down in post-season play, look at the past two seasons in the Big East:
2008-2009 Points Per REGULAR SEASON Game = 141
2008-2009 Points Per TOURNAMENT Game = 133.5 (not including the UConn/Syracuse multi-OT thriller)
2009-2010 Points Per REGULAR SEASON Game = 143.1
2009-2010 Points Per TOURNAMENT Game = 131.7
2010-2011 Points Per REGULAR SEASON Game = 135.6

FYI - Marquette & Providence are the two highest scoring teams in conference play on the season (Marq-73.2, Prov-72.4) ... that total is the only one going up from the opening number.

567-568 Rutgers-Seton Hall "OVER" 129.5

Correlated parlay opportunity:
Seton Hall is 6-2 straight up when their games go over (7-1 ATS).
Seton Hall is 2-15 straight up when their games go under (5-12 ATS).

Wow - too bad we can't carry some points over to the second game....game 1 over with 7 minutes left, despite the 4 point drop in the market price.....

I'll take winning the game vs. beating the market all day long....with apologies to Irish Tim and OSU Cowboys.....

1 Ching in!!

We need to get real. As JK knows, I am a big fan of his prowess, both handicapping and on the radio, but let's stop a bit and assess his known record. For roughly 10 years, I have been tracking his free plays given on the radio and Internet (exception is the Sam's town radio shows which aren't archived), and his CBB record is 164-153-2, 51.7%, -3.95 units which includes his great run here on EOG and WW (not including today's games).

Undoubedly, this is a small fraction of the games he has actually bet over that 10+ year period, but presumably most were his best plays of the day as he gave them out. Even this is a small sample statistically, but I'm not getting too carried away with a losing month and a half.

Hello rainbow. I'm staying in Las Vegas for the conference tournament action. I'll be attending both games in the WAC tournament tomorrow at Orleans Arena. I will arrive in Costa Rica the day following Selection Sunday.

Re: A March to Pointspread Glory

JK- what is the method to your OVER plays today?

I had several independent reasons and one common thread for the "over" plays at MSG. DePaul and Providence quit playing defense a month ago and the showdown between 'Nova and USF featured good little men (Fisher, Stokes and Wayns) against emerging big men (Gilchrist and Famous), a situation in which both teams usually score. Got lucky with the Rutgers-Seton Hall overtime as the Scarlet Knights defense was peskier than I thought.

Ready for the common thread? Mike D'Antoni is no fool. Is it possible the Knicks coach relaxed the tension of the rims to help his offensively-minded team score more easily? Speculation, to be sure, but consider the NBA game played on the eve of the Big East tournament registered 240 points. New York hit 56% of its shots while scoring 131 points. The Knicks and Jazz combined to hit 48 of 55 free throws.
