Why do guys who work for/at books get so much credibility?

I mean, it doesn?t pay much.

You have to be in another country.

And if they really knew so much, wouldn't they do better on the other side of the counter?

They could know of what's going on or they could have access to someone sharp

respect on a forum like this as they get some credit just being around the offshore game in so much detail they pick up lots of insights, stories, know some of the characters, the horror stories, the big scores, rumors, patterns things like that..:cheers

I went to a fantasy football draft in San Jose when I was there a few weeks ago. All the guys there were linesmen at various books around town. It was an eye opener, that is for sure. :pop:

Feel free to share stories, OSU. Or tell me if you like this 14 team fantasy roster:

Rivers
Rice
Tolbert
Tate/Malcolm Floyd/Ginn/Denarius Moore (flex)
Britt
Stevie Johnson
Gates
Chargers D/ST
Mason Crosby

As for OP...what Willy said.

A clerk is a clerk they have no financial liability for wins or losses so it is easy to have DIVINE KNOWLEDGE with no responsibility. Yes the may talk to BW or the CHINA MAN and be involved in the business and have knowledge but is there any metamorphse into their economic wealth or standard of living???? I dont talk to any industry giants or know what BW or CMAN gameplans are ! However I have been a principle for 35 years and have never OWED A SOUL or cheated anyone and my gambling ideas and perspectives may be old school but they have never failed me to date. My business is by no means the largest or smallest but there could never be a better one.

I really don't want to get too deep into my opinions of the guys. I will just say I dont think they could win on the other side of the counter if it came down to it.

I am not a fantasy footballer but my resident FF expert friend says this "I would say likely to make the playoffs but probably not supposed to finish higher than about 4th or 5th".

Again, don't shoot the messenger. 12io4j2w90

Didn't know that we had any credibility.

other than wannabe nuthuggers you really don't.

Bookies and agents that are a 10 on the offshore credibility scale would be about a 2 on the real world scale.

I respect Willy Loman's opinion on plenty of fronts, especially the offshore sports betting industry.

If this makes me a "nuthugger," so be it.

Credibility and offshore and sportsbooks just don't go hand in hand. Sure there are some decent people involved, but that would be a rare event much like with politicians. You can continue the circle jerk though :shoot:

OSU, tell your FF expert he's no expert.

My FF team will be a favorite to win every week except week 6 when the Chargers get their bye...

That being said, I enjoyed going to work 95% of the time and I always enjoyed the experience and people I met...and it made me a bit smarter about the gambling industry and the environment surrounding it....the stories and the memories are priceless and the friends I made such as Loman and Steak is stuff you can't put a price tag on....12io4j2w90

Why do guys who work for/at books get so much credibility?

I don't think it's a matter of credibility. It's just a means by one gambler to impress his buddy.

"Yeah, I was talkin' to Ben down at BenTaken.com in Paraguay. Very sharp. And he told me (Yadda, Yadda...)."

It's more the appearance of being well-connected to impress your gambling peers than having any respect for some guy named Ben in Banana Del Sur.

It's called name-dropping.

I would take honesty/integrity over name-dropping any day of the week....

Anyone whose priorities are honesty and integrity would certainly choose the sports gambling field..

It's a natural. LOL.

not at all. But does it really matter if I did?

Loman does biz one way, the right way.

I usually agree with your stance and comments. This time you got it all wrong bro.

The real world frowns upon this industry and those involved in it. I am not here for the tribal circle jerk like you and your peers. I am just being honest. There is life outside of gambling. Some of you talk as if gambling is a necessity in life. I am not in that camp. Nor do I want to be. Again, just being honest.

I am at the airport now waiting to get back to reality...Spent 8 weeks in your world WVU and had a great time with family and friends....

And last time I looked, this is a gambling forum and I see that you are contrbuting...most talk about gambling around here...

I think mortgage lenders and bankers are behind my gambling buddies...by the way, what camp are you in?

Re: Why do guys who work for/at books get so much credibility?

I am not in any camp. I am a family man. I do not come to these forums to get my balls massaged nor am I here to entice others to engage in the dirty world that is gambling. I just laugh when credibility and bookies are mentioned in the same breath. Bookies are in business to squeeze all their players. Some are nice about it but the reality is if you are no longer squeezable than you are no longer a desired player. Those with a clue are sent packing and those who have no desire to line the pockets of others are labeled unimpressive.

Re: Why do guys who work for/at books get so much credibility?

I still don't understand Viejo Dinosaur's role at EOG.

He is cast as some 30-year veteran of sports gambling.

As of yet, I haven't seem him produce anything.

Re: Why do guys who work for/at books get so much credibility?

And before everyone starts asking, I am not looking for customers here. However I will help WVU just to show that people in this biz still do other people favors without looking for something. I would not earn a cent off this.

Your post inferred he was a "2" on the credibility scale in the real world. You are incorrect in your categorization of Mr Loman.

I think you meant implied rather than inferred. But so what.
