Back at the time, a massage therapist working with the Dolphins vehemently disagreed with me on that when I was over there for a convention. But you could see it on the field on Sundays at the end. Great talents both of them of course.

However NE is not a big play offense ... they get big plays but they are more catch and run than air it out (when they try to they turn the ball over like in the 4th quarter of the Balt game). I have a feeling Belichick will try to protect his biggest weakness (defense) by exposing them as little as possible. How does he do that? By keeping the Giants offense the field (like the Giants did to Buffalo in SB XXV). So NE could be ultra-dink & ultra-dunk, lots of delayed hand-offs, etc. That's a style that NY won't necessarily mind as they are more of a bend-but-don't-break kind of defense that gives up yards but gets tougher as the field gets shorter.
This argument seems counter-intuitive to the Patriots fast pace that I spoke of. But in this game I think Belichick will try to keep his defense off the field, so while they may still get to the line quickly to prevent defensive substitutions, Brady could take a few more seconds before snapping the ball effectively slowing the pace down.
A couple 10 play drives resulting in FGs, missed FGs, or turnover-on-downs could be enough to keep this game under.
So I guess the under is a lean for me right now.

I'm undecided on the total still, although as of now I lean to the under. Maybe I'm too focused on college basketball right now but I'm thinking about the pace of this game. New England plays at a fast pace. No huddle, semi-huddle, they run a lot of plays. They don't want to give defenses a chance to substitute and matchup. more snaps > more plays > more scoring opportunities.
