Facebook Post Earns World Record for Most Comments
By Leslie Horn February 1, 2012

Facebook posts can be a crapshoot: sometimes items are added without notice, but occasionally you'll post something that generates an unexpectedly large number of comments. One group of Facebookers had some luck recently, with a post raking in more than 1 million comments, earning them a possible Guinness World Record for the most comments added to a single Facebook post.

Guinness confirmed that a total of 1,001,552 comments were made on a single post on the Frontierville Facebook page. The original post was made by Tracey Hodgson on Oct. 30, 2011.
But it wasn't a huge group of people; in fact, just 107 people participated, or an average of about 9,360 comments per person. But an even smaller number were responsible for the commenting that secured the record.

"We had over 107 help, but many left the record group because of the constant notifications, but there were a core group of four people? adding comments," Hodgson told Guinness.

"I'm leaving my mark on the world," one of the participants, Cathy Matthews told KTXL-TV in Sacramento. "Because I'm not a spring chicken anymore and I really haven't done anything phenomenal."

Matthews explained that most of her posts were comprised of two letter words, such as "go."
Guinness has not yet officially ratified the record, but if it's accepted it will best the previous record of about 500,000 comments.

<DT>A Coughing Funny</DT><DD>
The owner of a drug store walks in to find a guy leaning heavily against a wall. The owner
asks the clerk "What's with that guy over there by the wall?"
The clerk replies, "Well, he came in here this morning to get something for his cough. I
couldn't find the cough syrup, so I gave him an entire bottle of laxative."
The owner screams, "You idiot! You can't treat a cough with a bottle of laxatives!" The
clerk calmly replies, "Of course you can! Look at him; he's afraid to cough!"</DD>
