Are the Cardinals the best team in baseball?

I am serious as I am not much a bases follower but I seen some stats from April and it seems like they are pretty impressive.

Have you played a future wager on them to win the World Series?

I don't think so...I am not even convinced they are the best team in the National League. The Mets could make a strong case for that.

Izzy has seen better days and without a solid closer I think it will cost them.

I live about 40 miles from Busch stadium. My wife is a Cardinal NUT.
They do not have near the team this year as they did last year when they did not win the series.

Isringhausen has never really recovered from off season surgery. Edmonds
is still experiencing some lack of feeling in his hand , even after the cortisone injection & rest. Fear is the numbness is caused by a disc in his neck & not
an arm problem. Disc surgery would probably end his season. It is very doubtful it will come to that but it is fair to say Edmonds will NOT be 100% this year.

The Cards bullpen totallt changed, save for Izzy. Larry Walker retired. Mark Grudzelanik, Reggie Sanders, Woody Williams, John Mabry, and Matt Morris joined the bullpen in leaving town for more $$$.

Pujols literally carried the Cards on his back in April, setting a ML record doing so. Albert cooled off the start of May & the Cards dropped 4 in a row for the first time since 2004. They never lost more than 3 all of last year.
I think they will be very ,very fortunate not to have a streak longer than four this year.

The future looks even worse, as ALL the starters save for Ponson who they just got become free agents the end of this season. NOT good planning to have your whole rotation go free agent at once!

Thanks. I don't need to tie up my money for a 3/1 future play anyhow. Hell, we can make that in the casino today. :+wink-2+

for the record...izzy always starts slow till his arm ramps up and he gets back in mid to upper 90's. He will be just fine.

i dont think they are even close. they do well against bottom teams but i think decent teams they will struggle especially on the road. i think letting grudz and reggie sanders go was a huge mistake. i think they finish a little above 500 absolutely missing the playoffs.

I'd say 10-1 would be about their correct odds to win it right now. Therefore, if I were to bet a future on them, I'd need somewhere in the neighborhood of about 15-1 or maybe even closer to 20-1 given how long the money would be tied up. I doubt you could get odds that good, but it's certainly worth a shot if you can find it.

Second half and injuries are coming to a town near you ...... :+whipping

The correct answer is the White Sox. They are far ahead of everyone else.

I rank the top 5:

1 White Sox
2 Cleveland
3 Mets
4 St Louis
5 Yankees

Just missing - Houston, Reds, Red Sox, Tigers

totally agree with jagermeister, this year the white sox are just killing it. I bought the mlb package and I have seen every team play so far,and the white sox and yankees are just too strong all up and down the lineup. Pitching is a concern for both teams but if jenks can close like he did yesterday, and jose and and rest of the starters can keep throwing like he has for white sox they will be there at the end. Watch for streinbrenner to go after someone if they dont get clemens, pitching is the yankees achilles heel.
1. white sox
2. yankees

Jenks is the most important person. If he fails, the Sox don't win it all. Second most important is where Clemens will land.
