Saturday, September 14, 2019—140 Navy -7 -117 (BookMaker)

3:30 pm EDT/12:30 pm PDT (CBSS)—Good morning East Carolina, I am back for a second-helping. Yes, Navy (3-10 SU, 6-6 ATS in 2018) lost many players, but I am backing both the recent Trend and applying a straight East Carolina (3-9 SU, 4-7 ATS) Fade in this spot at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (FieldTurf) in Annapolis, MD where the hosts will be rested after playing FCS Holy Cross is Week 1 where they marched 75 yards on their first possession and scored en route to a 45-7 win. The Middies had 14 dudes rush the ball and their leading Receiver had 2 catches.

This boring Slog n’ Flog reminds me of my youth. Our Pop Warner and High School teams seldom dared to throw a Pass, opting for the Wishbone and other Rush-oriented formations. I was a (starting) WR on an undefeated Pop Warner team and never had a single Pass thrown to me or a route designed. And I was faster than the wind and had hands like Biletnikoff and my man Edelman. Why have Teeth if your only drink shakes? A Ball’s born to be in the air. C’mon man.

Navy is 3-0 ATS the L3 meetings with EC, making the Pirates walk the plank in 2016, at EC, 66-31 (NAVY -7½), at Annapolis in 2015, 45-21 (NAVY -4½) and at Greenville back in 2012 by a 56-28 score (EC -3½). So, the Middies not only covered those L3 meetings, but did so by 27½, 19½ and 31½ points. We never see the Pants or Shirts we are wearing when we Dream.

The King Rat may change from season to season, but the usual suspects are always in the mix, and East Carolina (9-27 SU, 9-24 ATS L3 years) is one of them and we chose to fade the bastards with the first NCAAF pick of the new season (NC State -17) in this sacred spot of the Internet where dudes like Heim, Kane, Jimmy the Greek, Valuist, Heisenberg and Patrick McIrish trade information and try to keep each other sharp. (My Cat Louie Smudge feels TryTryTry is a wonderful name but his favorite easily is Drnkyourmlkshk.)

The Pirates lost 34-6, and showed that over-analyzing who came and went from the Roster often isn’t as big of a factor as is the Conference in which the teams play, expectations and past, semi-recent results. Remember when Rutgers Football was good for a minute? In Week 2, God bequeathed Gardner-Webb on EC, and the Pirates plundered the poor Bulldogs, 48-9 in Greenville.

EC is 2-8 ATS in its L10 lined games, covering ATS only against AAC foes Tulane and lowly UConn last season. Navy L9 of 10 to end 2018 but the Midshippopotami have W4 straight ATS and are 5-1 ATS their L6. Anchors Aweigh, my boys, Anchors Aweigh! The L6 BE$T BET$ I have offered up are 6-0 (USU-NMS, USU-UNLV, USN-NM, USU-HAW, ND ST-COLG [SportsbookReview, 2018] and WASH ST-NO COL [eog, 2019) and have seemed like a cut above, and my first instinct is that this may be at that level with the line at 7 (Open, Sunday). But not now. Maybe a Blue ($77/70 to $55/50) level serious play and one definitely worth chirping to others about, but not at that elite Purple level like I thought when I saw this game in the Don Best Rotation and Marc Lawrence Playbook. I am still debating where, for whom and why I want to Work for the next 30-40 years or until all hell breaks loose here on Planet Nerf. Besides myself.

So Navy will Rush the fuck out of the ball and EC will try to establish a Passing game. Throwing the pigskin against Gardner-Webb at Home is one thing, but trying to do so vs a rested Navy team waiting at their Home is a different story. My handicapping feel is that the kids from EC will not be thrilled traveling to, and playing in this game. This will be a primarily Black team from a conference playing a mostly mixed team—who are Independent but united by their service for the USA like Air Force and Army—if we can still say simple things like that and not have everyone’s Undes get up in a bunch. Navy was more disciplined with the ball in 2018 (-0.23 TPG in 2018) than EC (-0.83, T-#119 FBS).

Senior QB Malcom Perry and junior FB Nelson Smith are quality players at Navy and should have decent days against EC as the team looks to rebound from its worst season since 2012. EC’s Defense will be put to the test here, and with the Pirates ranking #120 of 130 FBS teams (37.3 ppg), Navy should score 5 or 6 TDs and get 2 FGs in this Home spot with EC lucky to get 4. Anchors aweigh you freaks. I thought double-digit opening line with the game being played at 550 Taylor Avenue. We will fade EC again until the Oddsmakers realize they are better than 2018, but still not a disciplined or Defensive team.

Member’s Note: I always write this weird shit aimed at the world and not at the eog Best Bet thread readers. When I am chirping about Phones, it’s about Society and this gradual 20-year change we’ve seen and not anyone specific I have seen. I avoid people these days. And I may be deemed an expert from Time and Experience by some, but I have always been a Recreational gambler and Agnostic (religiously) and a Weed guy and a Smartphone and [R] basher from Day One. I am sorry, but at least I am consistent. I remember seeing these little 3-inch plastic Smartphones at CES back in 1992 and saying it was cool that they were making them that small because “it will be easier to shove them up your ass” to my co-workers. Look at the size of your index finger. And then look at the size of a button on the phone. It’s like using a Thimble as a Condom, bruh. Fuck small. Give me usable, sister. Better yet, give me nothing. I’ll activate this motherfucking Jitterbug flip phone when World War III starts soon.
The World began to really end when Smartphones became the thing. It’s great (in your mind) that you can now bet or shop at a stoplight, but do you really have to do something every fucking second to pretend you’re in the mix? (We’re all in the mix.) I don’t talk Politics in threads here as it is an endless trap, but I seem to be addicted to bashing Smartphones, the new Electronic Pet of the Millennium and this current political reality. People spend less time with their actual Pets and Children and become more agitated because of SmartPhones. And The Internet always puts them in 24/7 Let’s Go!-Game Mode. Slow down. I turn this machine (Computer) off for hours now to try to get perspective. Then I see that fucking Orange Man on my TV and remember we’re fucked and turn it back on and write to escape the madness. It helps some. Then I get up and stretch and see a big bag of chicken garbage that’s been sitting by a generator for 7 days now. Fuck these lazy maintenance twats. Avoid the garbage, but always be aware of your Smartphone. New ownership, same stupidity. Bag o Chicken Count: 11 Days.
Every motherfucking generation before the Baby Boomers had a routine based on the Sunlight and a 9-to-5 work concept—and going and being Outside for the most part—getting as much done when The Sun was out, a creator of Heat and Light (to see), was Life. Now, the Internet and Smartphones have made Sleeping a seemed luxury to so many, and this natural Circadian Rhythm we have had as Humans forever has suddenly been zapped and replaced with this Techno vibe. People will now be tired forever. And tired isn’t sharp. They’ll also stay inside.
So nobody will ever have to pay attention again and everyone now has a license to look down at their Irradiation Machines like Monkeys in that Cocaine experiment. Unless the secret to Life is on that little screen, y’all look so stupid. (The Secret to Life is that there is no Secret to Life.) But you PhoneFucks are like 99.9% of the population and I am the 0.01%. Still, fuck off. People walking through intersections, looking down at these Smartphones are the worst. Who cares if I get hit by a fucking car? I have Texts to read. I am extremely close to ramming people for sport. Wow. My bad. I appear crazy. Looking at all of my TBD plays - it should be very clear and obvious what kind of game I am expecting Saturday between these 2 sides. And trust me - I am far from done with plays on this game. By the time it kicks off I will have at least 7 different plays on the game and maybe even 8+. I will either looks really smart or really stupid when the game is over.
