I am half way through this book much of it through much of I have experienced already as an experienced bettor. However this book reinforces concepts into words and discusses them clearly and why. One quote that that resonated with me was

"The core principle in that process is this. Attack sportsbooks where they are vulnerable. Avoid betting into their strengths."

Miller, Ed; Davidow, Matthew. The Logic Of Sports Betting (p. 92). Kindle Edition.

This could be prop betting, derivatives 1H, 2H, quarters, team totals. Forgot to Add Live betting.......... Just like Sun Tzu in the art of War

“Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.” “The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.

translation: don't bet the NFL

It is hard to resist not to bet the NFL ....... Just like JK said before .... He would win in the CFB and lose it in the NFL

The two most difficult sports to win at is NFL and EPL == English Premiere league

It's a really good read, but I think it will go over the heads of most. I have met Miller many times and he's in the camp of people who find no entertainment in betting, it's all just about edges. They get offended if you bet something for fun. Fezzik like this too.

All fine and good but most people do it for fun and books like his and most poker books have the same attitude towards the games.

If people did not get it the first time read it again. Ed Miller 's startup is something like a sports radar to detect irregularities in the sports betting market to catch groups like NBA ref Tim Donaghy ( the nba ref convicted of fixing games )

I will be talking more about this book in the thread

His company offers live betting lines to people. Not sure if he also sells to sportsbooks.

He's trying to become an oddsmaker for books for all their live betting products. I heard the pitch a little while ago. Basically the premise is the books are scared shitless to offer live lines because sharps kill them with just better algorithms and methods. He has his own algos and other secret sauce that he says can protect the books from sharps taking endless advantage of their live lines. A second part of it is to improve their lines against the things he mentions in the book. He points out when books move a pregame line, such as the game total, they should be adjusting a lot of derivative lines and books generally do not. If sharps are stating with their bets that the score is going to be lower, then things like yards thrown by QBs should be slightly adjusted too. His pitch is we can tell you all the things to adjust, some not really that obvious to even seasoned football watchers.

So he wants to make sports betting impossible. To win at. He wants a sharp bet on the under to impact 50 other things that would be considered to the under. Awesome.
