Get to Vegas...and can't bet

I flew into Vegas today and find out my Westgate app has an issue I need to resolve during business hours and I have almost no money in my William HIll account. Basically can't place a bet tonight on KBO, so its offshore I go even though this was once the sports betting capital of the world. This morning I had plenty of money and my 4 accounts to choose from in Colorado. Nevada sucks for sports bettors is all I gotta say, such a sad state of affairs.

The feds need to solve for this nonsense. Screw the Mormons, Baptists and whoever else tells me I can't bet because they don't like to gamble. I live in a place with sports betting, I'm visiting a place with it. Why shouldn't I be allowed to use my funds and my accounts in another state?

Frustrating situation, WildBill.

I'm back in Las Vegas on June 1.

Venetian is taking reservations for that date.

The Ventetian tower will open first and then the Palazzo tower will open at a later date.

Let's go.

Nevada is on track to be one of the last states to reopen casinos.

So much for blazing trails.

What happens in Vegas, happens everywhere else -- sooner and faster.

Maybe next time the state has a gubernatorial election, the masses will think long and hard about electing a power hungry D governor..

A friend of mine remembers then-Clark County commissioner Steve Sisolak cruising around the race and sports book at The Orleans to see if anyone would recognize him.

He went from playing 25-cent video poker to playing $5 video poker.

Or so the story goes.

I got a call from a manager at Sunset Station today. To inform me my May 30-June 1 reservation was a no go. She told me they are hopeful for a June 1 opening.

Some casinos may be deliberately taking early reservations hoping it will pressure politicians, plus their budgets are in desperate mode.

Hello Mr Ignoramus,

If you weren't married you and the Mayor of Vegas would be a great match. Dumb and Dumber. Or Mr. & Mrs. Ignoramus as long as current Mrs. Ignoramus gave you a pass.

Vegas must really be weird right now. Are front doors locked? Can you just stroll through the hotel lobby and empty casino?

Can't even get in the parking lot. Hotels at casino resorts are not open. There are quite a few people out walking around the Strip at times, but you can't go inside anything and only a few restaurants open along the Strip outside of the resorts. Even though technically any dining room can be open as long as they don't go over 50% capacity and every table is at least six feet apart, the majority are still running just takeout. The few that have opened dining rooms were kind of crowded tonight in Summerlin, so I just went to a takeout place and ate outside on their patio.

masks?

Lot fewer masks around town than I expected. Where I live masks are mandatory inside. In Vegas they are "suggested" which means about 30-40% of people are wearing them. I did see a few stores in Summerlin saying you need to wear one if you come into the store, but plenty of restaurants and stores where people were ignoring it.

Are you sealing the doors and windows at home so the virus doesn't sneak in? Maybe someday you'll get the OK from Pritzker to leave the house.

RepubliCon is a disease. Pritzer done a great job.

Getting back to Trump. He's trying to steal the election. Shocker. He's subverting America's democracy.

Is that how you explain his 70% approval rating. That's a majority. Kinda of opposite of a few..

Didn't a couple of Auto manufacturing plants in Mi. prematurely open but had to close because of new Covid-19 cases?

Did you know if Michigan makes it easier for their citizens to vote in these dangerous times Trump is threatening to take away aid. He's trying to steal another election and he's extorting help from Michigan.

"Do me a favor, don't allow your citizens to vote by mail".
- Illegal President Trump

And the RepubliCons are letting the very sick President do it.

I guarantee its not 70% downstate. I would be surprised if its over 40%

She opened the auto plants for support. It's OK if they can go back in a war zone to please the UAW. Trump had nothing to do with it. Is her letting them work in a war zone any different than Trump playing favorites with states?

I'm for voting by mail, or am i supposed to support the far right agenda?

They're looking at June 4th for reopening casinos if we don't see a "spike" in cases this weekend supposedly.

Sisolak is a dictatorial dipshit. Can't wait to vote this piece of shit out of office. Shut down for over two months with average of about 5 deaths per day and the fucking retard was still talking about "flattening the curve". Meanwhile, hospitals in the valley had thousands of empty beds, hundreds of doctors and nurses have been laid off, nobody that needed a transplant or cancer treatment could get it, and patients for a slew of diseases like strokes, heart attacks, etc. were down over 40% and dying at home because they were scared to go to the hospital. He's got a brain cell about the size of Bigrunner and he's responsible for thousands of deaths and tens of thousands losing their businesses and jobs.

Good luck with that. He was polling at 70% favorable not too long ago. Probably comes down slightly but he's still a lock to win re-election as long as they continue to work towards reopening. I think he was risking his future when it seemed he would follow whatever Newsom and California did, but he suddenly tacked out of that earlier in May. The timing and the sudden change indicates he must have been told by his pollsters that he needed to start the reopening.

As with all governors there will be 30-40% who absolutely hates him simply because of that D letter that comes after his name. I certainly don't agree with all he does, but that's democracy. I certainly would never want the ass clown he ran against be in power right now.

Depends how many people lose their jobs coming out of this. Don't think he's anywhere near 70% right now. He has two more years before he gets voted out anyway.

All of the Commifornians moving here for no state income tax, voting like they still live in that shithole, and thinking it won't end up just like there are fucking up this state.

So, The NEW Las Vegas Raiders Go From Paying Caliexico a 13.2 % State Income Tax Rate, To a ZERO % State Income Tax Rate.

What Did They Get for that 13.2% ?

Not Much.

What Will They be Without By not Paying Anything to Nevada ?

Not Much.

A total of 373 people have died from COVID-19 in Nevada.
With covid not "from" covid
Excellent distinction.

Actually, it is just the opposite. The numbers most likely understate the true death toll from COVID-19. As there was a lack of testing early, many people who died of pneumonia before wide spread testing was possible, likely died of pneumonia caused by COVID-19.

Many people who die from COVID -19, die from complications caused by the viral infection -- pneumonia, cytokine storms (a person's immune system overreacts, goes into overdrive, and kills them), lung blood clots, or heart blood clots, or other complications, all caused by COVID-19 -- so from is the proper preposition.

For instance, John Kelly, the St. Louis Blues TV broadcaster, was hospitalized with double pneumonia. He was eventually tested and got the results 10 days later after he recovered. It turned out his pneumonia was caused by COVID-19. If he had died before he was tested, his death would have been listed as caused by pneumonia, not COVID-19.

Another example: Former state department official and Time magazine managing editor Rick Stengel's 91 year old mother died of pneumonia. One of his mother's caretaker nurses later tested positive for COVID-19. So it's highly likely his mother's pneumonia was caused by COVID-19 she caught from a caretaker nurse. His mother wasn't tested for COVID-19 before she died as testing wasn't widely available at the time. Thus, her cause of death is listed as pneumonia.

Not a chance the numbers are understated in Nevada.

Sisolak shut down the state with 32 cases.
