Less than two years after going through a $3.6 million renovation, Treasure Island opts to close its buffet to move a sport book into the 12,575-square-foot space.

Corner Market Buffet took over the former Buffet at TI space in 2018 with stations spanning a farmer’s market for salads; new American, continental, and Asian dishes; and a country bakery with desserts, soufflés, and gelato. The buffet served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, emphasizing international flavors and the ability to order unlimited drinks and a bloody Mary bar.

The Race & Sports Book relocates into 12,111 square feet of the space, adding a bar per the plans. The construction costs alone are estimated at $3.5 million.

Corner Market Buffet joins other recent COVID-19 restaurant closings including PizzaRev, both locations of Miller’s Ale House Sweet Tomatoes buffets, Ricardo’s Mexican Restaurant, Hamptons and Brio Tuscan Grille at Tivoli Village, and Ben’Zaa Cantina in Centennial.

i bet restaurants buffet's turn into "cafeteria style" where you just point at what you want.....maybe not happening till a vaccine is discovered?

Here's hoping the staff at the newly-located shop will book with the $3.5 million construction costs in mind.

Big investment should demand bigger limits.

Quit squeezing bettors with low limits.

Ruffin's people have always been conservative, dating back to their time at the New Frontier.

Plexiglass shields and dividers are in demand now.

Discounted plexiglass to be available this time next year.

Sometimes I spend the whole day in the sports book. Couple of hot dogs is all I need. Hot dog cart at the Barbary Coast saved me many days.

i loved the barbary coast easy place to get to other shops. I liked the diner / newspaper shop / michaels next to the check in. Let's not forget the phones to call back east.

I think the buffet will come back to vegas when they put up plexiglass .& a person giving the food out.. .. many food places are doing it all over the country.

I sometimes visit The Cromwell to envision the old Barbary Coast layout.

Only the cashier's cage and elevator remain in the same spot.

Remember the McDonald's positioned downstairs where Drai's Beach Club & Nightclub now resides.

The McDonald's Dungeon, I like it.

The IP escalator from the street level was one-way, if memory serves.

Yes you are correct. Just like the moving sidewalks at Caesars and a few other places. you can ride them into the property but you must hoof it on your own to get out.

the only time I’ve ever spent more than an hour at a sportsbook at a time was when I got too high and couldn’t walk at the rio- fell asleep for a few hours.

Sportsbook are just behind the race books as places that I try to spend as little time as I can at.

nothing more annoying than other people cheering against your bet when something lucky happens against you.

if I wanna live bet.. I go to other parts of the casinoes to watch.
