Prediction... WSOP will be all online and then the have two tables of 4 players
I can't counter this prediction as I see it moving this same way.

This would be awful for the WSOP brand.

It would limit these tourneys to just 3 states (Off the top of my head I think the WSOP.com site only caters to 3 states).

These tourneys would be full of absolute online killers and not enough "rec" players who would be taking their annual trip to vegas to take a shot in some tourneys.

But this is probably (fingers crossed) to be a one year problem.

When you see the traffic at some of the non-regulated, non-licensed online poker sites (Global, ACR, Betonline) we see some big spikes in traffic and guarantees being met and surpassed but a big margin but these sites are working "illegally in all 50 states and other countries" whereas the WSOP.com brand would not take this risk.

I would love to see a 8 handed table as a new standard poker table.

Reading stories of tourneys being 10 handed last WSOP is just awful. The only thing that approves of this is the Covid-19 virus.

Wouldn't it be weird if they only allowed 4 at a table and 3 at one table got knocked out first.

You could potentially have one entrant sitting out lots of hands until a spot opened up. I suppose they could rotate a player in and one out every so often until someone was knocked out. It would be wild.

Poker tables in other states are opening with 6 or 8 players max and plexiglass shields. The four players per table rule requirement won't last long.

I went to Caesar’s thursd night. It was very slow as many casinos are on the strip. Even the local casinos I go to are very slow. Fremont seems to be doing well but I haven’t gone down there to check it out.

its going to be a long road to recovery. Heard the culinary Union is getting ready to sue casinos. That will be the straw that breaks the camels back.

Yeah cause the casinos never win in Nevada courts or Legislature...

Culinary just being self serving dipshits as always. What they would like is for the casinos to stay closed, but for all their members to still get paid. What are the chances that's going to be the outcome?

Only 1 more moth till the free money ends, they'll change their tune then.

Casinos are spineless. God forbid they might inconvenience one of their smoker players. People would adapt. And if they can't, maybe they shouldn't be there.

On this front there just might be progress. A lot of thoughts out there why Vegas needs smoking, but one very common one is that having smoking is a draw to those from out of state who can't smoke inside anywhere and drink, let alone gamble. I do think there was quite a bit of this crowd recently before the mask mandate, people who basically wanted to thumb their nose at masks and social distancing. Now that it's gone, that crowd will have to go to tribal casinos. I'm not expecting things to change soon, but it was actually a bit of a move towards being in line with other places and that could eventually lead to change in smoking policy.

I go to A LOT of casinos all over the country and to date the ONLY reopened casino I've seen that has gone non smoking because of COVID is the Clearwater River Lodge in Lewiston, Idaho.

What's wrong with smoking in casinos?

Second hand smoke kills 41,000 people every year
Do you really believe that? I dont smoke, never have, but smoking should be allowed if it's legal. people demonize the tobacco co's, the people getting rich on smoking are local and state govts and the medical industry, they could ban it - but they want the money.

The highest percentage of smokers in any casino in Nevada has to be the Virgin River in Mesquite.
Low ceilings make it worse.
Absolutely disgusting.

What’s worse are pit bosses and dealers threatening to kick a player off the table for cussing while another is sitting there smoking.
My last trip to Vegas. Ceasars pit boss got on to me about cussing at crap table. He said, '1 more fuck, you are gone." I picked up my few remaining chips and left. Cold fucking table. I tried a few DON`T bets, nothing worked.

The state Gaming Control Board on Tuesday reported May casino win of $5.8 million, down 99.4 percent from May 2019. Casinos were closed in May, meaning that any revenue generated came from sports book apps that continued to operate.

In five state markets, including Laughlin, casinos took in less than they paid out. Some of the payouts resulted from sports bets placed months ago that casinos are only now reconciling.

For that reason, Clark County gaming win was higher than the state total overall, $5.9 million, down 99.3 percent from the previous year.

“The vast majority of the win amount was derived from mobile sports wagering and interactive poker,” said Michael Lawton, senior research analyst for the Control Board.

A COVID-19-tracking website built by the cofounders of Instagram shows Nevada currently has the highest rate of coronavirus transmission in the country.
The rt.live website calculates that each case of COVID-19 in Nevada is resulting in 1.56 new infections.
The finding comes as the state has been reporting record numbers of newly diagnosed cases, an indication that the virus is spreading quickly.

Of course that's all fake, estimates only. Highly subject to manipulation, since there are likely 5-10 times as many undetected as detected cases, there is no real way of gauging true infection rates.

Nevada is an interesting state. I've been tracking the daily numbers and 7 day moving averages. The number of tests performed increased a lot in June versus May, but has flattened in June. Confirmed cases have soared while deaths have plummeted.

As of the latest June 29 report, measuring the 7 day moving averages (MAVG):
# of cases MAVG has been up 18 days and down only 3 in the last 21 days, with the 7 day MAVG up 262% over 21 days..
# of tests performed MAVG has been up 11 days and down 10 in the last 21 days, with the 7 day MAVG up only 6% over 21 days..
# of deaths MAVG has been up only 5 days and down 16 in the last 21 days, with the 7 day MAVG down -60% over 21 days..

I ate at the Sahara coffee shop in mid-June a few days before they announced an employee had contracted COVID-19.

Was I supposed to quarantine for seven days or 14 days?

Contact tracing, theoretically, seems to be the right strategy but it also feels unrealistic.

I'll bring a mask when I visit in August.

Stay safe, Bob.

contact tracing only works if the virus is very isolated in the community, once it becomes widespread, which it is now with literally million of infections at one time( the vast majority undiagnosed), it's useless.

Masks mean nothing, check out south africas chart, or LA's, they've been wearing masks for a long time, months. Weak people are always looking for something to blame, the virus will always win, but we'll get through it.
