starks was not a championship #2 guard... an NBA player for sure.. Cannot count on him when it counted. Celtics will regroup

I talked to Starks before the Hollyfield/Holmes fight in the lobby of Caesars briefly....hell of a nice guy.

Raise your hand if you knew Starks played for the Bulls a handful of games.

That might have been posted in the "I forgot he played for that team " thread.

As a Bulls fan, that was a gut punch seeing him in Chicago.

I remember watching that game.
DJ one of the best defensive guards of all time.
Died at age 52 of a heart attack.

I was in attendance.

For the next 25 years, I think this game stood as the last Finals game 7 in a major sport that was lost by the home team. Seattle started the 1977-78 season 5-17, fired Coach Bob Hopkins, installed Lenny Wilkens and finished 47-35. Interesting that the Bullets also won Game 4 in the Kingdome because the Seattle Center Coliseum was hosting a mobile home show (DJ was the leading scorer in Game 4 with 33 pts). Later, DJ clashed with Wilkens and was traded to Phoenix for Paul Westphal.

Tatum is a future superstar, just think if the Lakers had taken him instead of Ball

John Starks was a late bloomer.

He went undrafted in the 1988 NBA Draft.

Served time (pun intended) in both the CBA and World Basketball League.

"The Dunk" was one of his career highlights.

I needed him to perform well in Game 7 of the 1994 NBA Finals.

I bet the Knicks +4.5.

Starks went 2-for-18 from the field including 1-for-10 in the fourth quarter.

Final score: Rockets 90 Knicks 84.

Starks scored over 10,000 points in his NBA career.
