Two huge melting Antarctic glaciers could raise sea levels by 10 feet

Heading for a meltdown
First the West Coast wildfires, now this: Two gigantic Antarctic glaciers are breaking free of their moorings due to warming sea waters, a development that could significantly raise sea levels worldwide. Yet the Trump administration and much of the Republican Party continues to treat the demonstrably epic threat of global warming as if it’s some political headache they can talk away.

Glaciers are massive swaths of land ice that move under their own weight — with city-sized pieces sometimes cracking into the sea, where the effect on global sea levels is the same as dropping ice cubes into a glass of water.

The National Academy of Sciences reports that, based on satellite images, the buffer system that prevents the huge Pine Island and Thwaites glaciers from flowing outward into the sea is breaking down. Thwaites (glacier) alone, if its movement accelerates, could trigger a cascading collapse in the West Antarctic ice sheet. That sheet contains enough ice to ultimately raise global water levels by some 10 feet. (bolding, underling, italicizing, parenthetical clarification by me)

They've been talking about this for 10 years, for the record, CO-2 emissions by the US are way down under trump.

Time to get trump out before its too late.

Sorry pal, if the US ceased to exist tomorrow, CO-2 levels would continue to rise for decades at least, and the world will continue to warm for centuries no matter what the world does.

There's no stopping it, no slowing it down, pretending that by giving more money to rich people we're making an impact, is pure foolishness.

Yeah but climate change doesn't exist, it's a hoax started by China, just ask the orange imbecile

So lemme get this straight.

CO₂ levels are way down under Trump

But it don't fukkin matter anywayz.

Lolz.

Emissions are way down in the US, worldwide emissions are still growing, and actually if worldwide emissions dropped, CO 2 levels would still rise for many decades. Worldwide temps will continue to rise for centuries no matter what is done also.

The morons are focused on C0-2 levels, methane is an even greater greenhouse gas and those levels are rising off the charts, you cant stop that either. If the entire world stopped emititng carbon the world would still warm for centuries.

Methane gas is easily converted to biogas using microbes. Biogas plants are all over the developing world.

A decent infrastructure commitment, a little less love for antiquated fossil fuels and a commitment is all you need.

You could do your part and stop spewing bullshit as well.
