Nj going to have large # of cases in coming days.but amount of people getting tested off the charts. The same day result test is all over now, easy to find. i think qty people today tested was literally double amount yesterday.hospital #s still way down here.lot of asymptomatic high school positives.

Cases don't mean a thing if death rate goes down. We are getting better with treatments. Herd immunity is building.
Testing is now well over 1 million most days(and rising), if we still tested 100-200K/day, like we did a few months back, we'd have 5-10000 cases /day and be thrilled we have it under "control".

There were more than 56,000 new coronavirus cases identified in the United States today. That's the highest daily total in nearly two months.
View attachment 7462705How could this be going up when we were assured it was OVER months ago.?

Cases don't have to be a bad thing. The hope would be that it would continue to be the younger population with the positive tests and little repercussions.

it looks as though, it is now spreading to the older more vulnerable populations.

hospitalizations jumped a crazy 7% in one day and they are up 20% over the past 20 days.

Deaths will more than likely be going up near the end of October, which is not great timing

oh so what are you saying...

the people had covid and drove to sturgis and spread it to people that lived there and then slowly those people spread it to people they knew, and those people spread it to people they knew and 7 weeks later, there are a whole bunch of cases, and they are shipping people out to hospitals in Minnesota?

impossible!

Even if that was the case, young people don't stay only among themselves. They have parents grandparents, teachers, fellow workers who are older, etc. If there were a way to isolate the insane nuts who ignore safe practices and keep them among their kind, that would be great, to infect each other until their heart's content . Unfortunately, that's not reality.

Throughout this pandemic, deaths have tracked cases with a very slight delay(a week - 10 days at most), in the july surge down south cases tripled yet deaths only went up about 40%(then dropped). This latest increase is largely testing related, will deaths rise - a bit, but on a national level it's unlikely to look anything like it did in the spring, or even summer.

Much of these latest surges are related to colleges and grade schools reopening, look at sweden, they never shut their schools, many of their schoolkids and young adults no doubt had it back then and they're not spreading it now. Lockdowns and shutdowns dont work, in the spring we didn't know that, that was a mistake, we shouldn't make another one.

nah the deaths tracked cases with about 3-4 weeks delay

the latest surges are not the colleges and schools, its the people that have caught it from the college kids and schools

you are a few weeks behind the news cycle

otherwise you must be thinking the hospitals are suddenly filling up with very young people

were the 2,200 new hospitalizations yesterday from kids?

In the spring cases peaked on april 10th, deaths on april 20th, in the summer cases peaked on july 20th, deaths on aug 2.

Hospitalizations are real, and they're not young people, as of today they stand at about 30K, it bottomed in the 25's, but peaked in the 56K range 9-10 weeks ago, no need to overdramatize it.

S. D. With a 24.7% positivity rate last 2 weeks.

That's the direct result of 350,000 bikers in a 10 day long group grope,

They probably drank the hand sanitizer and put the mask over a nasty cooch.

numbers are numbers. no drama

hospitalizations are going up. It illustrates that this is not over, we don't know where the over mark is yet and that we aren't just seeing an increase in cases from younger people, we are seeing it from older people.

they are going to the hospital and many will die.

These was- they were referred to as red states. I would bet more countries than not have rising cases - starting with Canada. Are you suggesting that Canada wasn’t doing it right?

60,000 cases today, but they did an astonishing 1.25 million tests, who was it that said testing will solve our problems? Does anyone in america feel good about either the number of cases or the number of tests.
