Well New York's going to get mobile sports betting but...

Its been Cuomo-ed. Never seen legislation this unclear before, seems like four skins will be allowed but taxes and payments will be through the roof. Plus the Lottery will make the call and might want to have an option of its own or slow roll the issuance of licenses to the benefit of the state and detriment of the customer. I'm guessing if PA could survive bad taxes, NY operators could too but this could be an ugly mess with high vig and not enough competition. Still better than no options other than to cross into Jersey.

Pardon my Crazy-ness, but I’ve heard this reference to “skins” on this topic before, & I have no idea what it means.
I’m very curious, can WB or someone explain what that means?
Thanks-

At least Arizona got it right. Up to 16 online licensees can kick things off perhaps by NFL season. They did the smart thing, gave it to the existing tribal casinos and to the sports franchises. Unlike some of these clown governors, Arizona will have sports betting the way the public wants it with no stupid in person registration, a good amount of competition and reasonable tax rates.

Illinois just went back to in-person registration. Just dumb and I don't understant the logic. You have a book 275 miles from Chicago, and what do the players at the bottom of the state do? Its 100+ miles to St Louis, or 350 miles to Chicago area.

for the most part they are going state to state with the same books.. Nevada still in the lead with quality of books.. Colo and NJ about the same. Let's see how this plays out by the end of 2021 or 22. If they start bringing in the exchanges and a few solid books like superbook then we have something to chew on. If they bring in an offshore or two.. Which i am putting my chips on .....and I mean all my chips then we have something.. I know it sounds crazy but i think they will let some offshore in......blockchain could very well play a serious role with the stock market and sports betting along with voting across the US.

The true damn bursting moment is if they could repeal the Wire Act and allow this to be a national business as it should be. Exchanges will be interesting, only a few states could really support one well.

they could pool it... like the lottery ???

Wire Act only thing standing between national pools for states that opt in to sports betting. There might still be some holdouts, but could easily see 20+ states joining in as long as the taxes and regulation are kept at state level.

there could be something in blockchain that could make it a go pass the wire act. Getting congress to do it is like beating the odds on mega millions 3 weeks in a row.

Wire Act is pretty damn clear. No sports betting info crossing state lines. Where the Feds got into trouble is trying to make it apply to anything but sports betting. If they are repealing the excise tax on sports bets, its a great opportunity to take out the Wire Act as well or at least make it crystal clear that approved regulated entities are exempt from the Wire Act. But frankly just easier to take it out, there is no redeeming value to it. Breaking up illegal sports betting has been and always will be up to local and state authorities.

How does it work with progressive slots? Some of them have to be interstate, no?

how are the mary jane states getting the $$$ into the fed banks ? That was a problem at one time

It's still a huge problem. Businesses can't do banking, they have to basically settle their accounts internally and recognize profits almost daily so they can be classified as income to their owners. Even then there are hundreds of thousands in cash floating around waiting to get stolen or embezzled.

Feds aren't changing things because the cops love the wars on vice. Police and prisons would be bankrupt if drug war was ended.

Actually they are not interstate. Big progressive jackpots are not as popular now anyways, most people realized they had almost as good a chance of hitting the lotto so they go after the local multi level progressives where top prize is usually 20-100k.
