This is what I wrote for Lonnie’s funeral…
My Old Friend Lonnie;
My rookie year I was the only rookie to make the team…Lonnie was the middle linebacker and was tuff as nails. The Central Division was stacked with some bad ass middle linebackers: Dick Butkus, Ray Nitschke, and Nick Buoniconti,,,but I lined up against Lonnie Warwick every day.
That daily experience prepared me to play against the best..when the game bell rang I was ready to roll.. I don’t think I had a problem with any opponent because of the way I practiced with Lonnie.
On our days off he and his best buddy Roy Winston…our outside linebacker and one of LSU’ S original Chinese Bandits…would invite me squirrel hunting…. Roy’s (Moonie) wife , Yvette was Cajun and would make squirrel stew for the team for Wednesday’s lunch!
Lonnie was a force, but had a soft heart!
He and Joe Kapp would harass each other continually..Joe would call Lonnie Rubber Face… they once got in a fist fight over which one caused us to lose…they each blamed themselves ….but they had great respect for each other!
I loved having Lonnie as a teammate..I know he is up above organizing a group of young men teaching them the important parts of life!
RIP MY OLD FRIEND, AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU!
With much love and respect! Ed

sounds familiar, was he on yankees

He played predominantly with the Rangers. He's infamous for dragging a bunt down the first base line so he could run over the pitcher throwing at him

He also had a incident with the Tex manager, Lucchesi, I don't remember the facts.

The opening odds start here
He was upset at Bump Wills

Randle was upset at manager Frank Luchessi for making Bump Wills the starting second baseman and slapped Luch three times during spring training. Luchessi wound up in the hospital with a fractured cheekbone and Randle was eventually traded April 28th of 1977 to the Mets for Rick Auerbach and cash.

Shirley got screwed in 76, by those East German cheats. Nice to see them win the “last gold” in 4x100 freestyle with Shirley closing it out. Even our USA announcing team, with that cunt Donna Devarona, had no confidence they could win that race.

Bill McCartney University of Colorado coach who won the national Championship in 1990. he was 84.

McCartney's QB Sal Aunese had a kid with Coach McCartney's daughter which caused quite a kerfuffle at the time. Aunese died of stomach cancer at the age of 21. That kid T.C. McCartney is currently QB coach for the New England Patriots.
