2025-2026 MLB Hot Stove

As a young kid growing up baseball was my life…everything I did revolved around baseball…that was over 70 years ago…I could recite statistics about just about any MLB team…my Father used to take me to his favorite water holes and would drink for free based upon my knowledge of baseball while also teaching me how to shoot pool, play shuffleboard, shooting darts, and playing pinball games such as bowling…I look upon those years fondly but in the last several years the luster has grown old…free agency and salary demands have killed my love for the game I loved growing up…I am still a fan but baseball doesn’t seem so important anymore…no longer a way of life and enjoyment….just took me many years to realize it….I don’t feel disappointed anymore when my team is eliminated from the playoffs…especially in the last ten years…

What we're witnessing with the Dodgers is a potential dynasty in the making, and I don't mean a team that wins 3 WS in 6 years as impressive as that is, but I'm talking about a true dynasty. I know nothing is guaranteed, but if we fast forward 3 years from now, and the Dodgers just got done winning their 5th straight WS, would anyone here be that surprised. I don't think we'll ever see what the Bill Russell led Celtics did, but if this Dodger team stays healthy, we could be looking at something we haven't seen in sports in a long time as far as winning championships go

I feel exactly the same.. I gave up on BB a few years ago... Golf as well...
Crazy salaries have ruined most pro sports and now college as well.

And to think the Commissioner nixed Charles O. Finley from dumping his stars on the A's back in the day. 😏

For Don Money? Or money money?
Off topic, I know you like fading teams after a long winning streak gets busted. In college basketball Vanderbilt started the year 16-0, they lost their first game the other day and play tomorrow at home against Florida. I'm not advocating a bet against them, just letting you know Vandy fits into a trend you like playing. GL if you fade

Thanks. With all the events going on its easy to overlook some. I wasn’t aware of Vandy lost the other day. I know Nebraska was still unbeaten last time I checked. I could definitely see them dropping another game after the streak bursts.

"A's owner Charlie Finley sold Rudi and Fingers to the Red Sox for $1 million each, and Vida Blue to the Yankees for $1.5 million, as he tried to manage the team's finances as free agency loomed."

The only reason I bring this up is because Kuhn nixed it because it wasn't in the best interest of baseball. Albeit they all left as free agents after the season...

Commissioner has all types of power, the Dodgers are tipping the scales away from competitive balance. Plus they're deferring a lot of the money to avoid the luxury tax.

The angle strikes again.

I'm really curious to see what MILW does with Freddy Peralta. Of course everyone wants him, he's got one year left at 8mil.

He'll want a lot after this season as a UFA....Brew crew suits very tight budgeted.

They will figure it out. They seem to always make the right decision.

Missed out on Iowa State. They had won their first 16 games, lost to Kansas last Tuesday, first game after that was at Cincinnati this past Saturday and Iowa State lost again.

I actually had Cincinnati. Yes Raiders, it was posted in the BB thread. Didn't think to post it here, sorry

I can cut some slack for one bad year. But when they put up 2 straight off years? In the case of Robert, his 2025 numbers almost identical to 2024.

I don't blame MILW for trading Peralta, they knew they only had him for one year. They got something back, he wasn't re-signing with MILW on their budget.

2 straight years with an OBP under .300. I thought only Stanton was capable of that.

The Reds have a good young team built around their rotation, the lineup is okay but nothing special, the one thing they lack is a hammer in the middle of the lineup
Reds signed Eugenio Suarez 1 year 15M, for whatever reason he wasn't able to land a long term deal, I'll gladly take him even if for only one year, this gives the Reds the power bat they badly needed

I can foresee a July 31 trade.

Not a big fan of what the Mets did other than getting Peralta: Our they that much better defensively?

Luis Robert- missed over 100 games the past two years with a .220 ave and .285 obp with 450 strikeouts over past 3 years.
Marcus Semien- 35 year old at the end of his career. Missed 40 games last year, Past 2 years .230 ave .300 obp
Bichette- who will be playing out of position, at 43 million a year. Plus has an opt out so this could be only for a year.
Downgraded the bullpen from Diaz to Williams.

Some of these young pitchers need to have good years or it could be a 3rd place finish in the East.

Good points. They flipped so much of their roster. Even if the 4 names you mentioned above were ascending, it still might take a season for them to adapt. But those 4 aren't on the upswing.

So DET was willing to pay Valdez 38 million a year but only offered 19 million in arbitration for Skubal. 🤔
