2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Can't believe Carolina is favored in game one. They have been sitting for 5 days. Fla will be the same Fla we saw in their 4 W's in the Leafs series.
Very interesting series. I lean Carolina for the series, but the time off is a concern.

lol! Maybe another time in my life Wade, but I have so little free time these days I don't keep up with these leagues or tournaments. Sorry

Ok the Czechs won easily 5-0. They got Pastrnak and Necas. I like Carolina -120 tonight.

Bushay, who you got in the IIHF Worlds today?

I like the Czechs -1.5 -124
Well, a customer just called me this morning to renew her live tv subscription and her husband is one of the assistant coaches for team USA she tells me, so I take my last reply back. I do have the game on now and am watching but still have no opinion on a side or total.

This is good filler for a hockey junkie like me while we wait for the NHL semi-finals to start.

Those teams who come off a series win always seem to have an edge at least in that first game against a team sitting and waiting.

Florida with no key injuries to speak of other than Tkachuk should pick up right were they left off IMO.

Carolina moves that puck around quickly. A ton better than Toronto or TB did. That's what you need to beat this Florida team. 3rd period to go, but at this stage, it doesn't look like it's tonight. Florida has pretty much neutered this crowd. They are playing the perfect road game so far. Carolina needs some luck here in the 3rd. It's not going to be easy to come back from this.

The linemaker definitely made a great line. I jumped on Carolina when I saw Fl favored. The books laughed at my bet making the line even larger. Carolna has now lost 13 straight in the Eastern conference finals, being swept their last 3 times.

Brind Amour isn't that good of a coach. he dyes his hair but has a silver highlight for some reason. He's 54 years old.

Was hoping Carolina would send a message (kick someone's ass) as the game was winding down........

Instead they seemed to take the ass-whipping like an unrepentant choir boy. Show some life!!

Pucks isn't really my thing but not impressed at all with Carolina, thought they were a lot more physical than I saw in game 1.

They got their asses kicked on the score board and seemed to be intimidated on the ice.

Cheap shot dirty hit by Aho on Reinhart, at some point in the series that will be dealt with by the Panthers, I can promise you that

I lost interest and missed the play. Was he penalized? Howids replay wasn't that good. I'll find a better one and comment.

I'd be shocked if they suspended Carolina's best player after that. Especially down 2-0 and the series moving to Sunrise.

Aho doesn't have a reputation for dirty play, probably best to fine him a token amount ...

Almost tore Reinhart's knee apart ...

Wasn't really a dirty hit. Maybe a little late.
What? he led with his hip right into Reinhart's knee, and the way his knee bent it looked like a bad injury. Players don't care if you hit them high, just don't go after a guy's knees. There's no way that's a clean hit

He didn't chop him with his stick, or run him into the boards, which is fine too unless it was ruled too aggressive like slamming his head through the glass. He put an open ice hit to his lower body and took him down as he released the puck. As I stated earlier, the hit could have POSSIBLY been deemed too late. It was difficult in the video to tell honestly. And that's why no penalty was called. Looks to me like it's possible it's more of a Charley horse type of injury. Hopefully. But the injury is not the point here. It's if Aho did something illegal. A knee on knee hit is illegal. That type of hit ends careers. That wasn't knee on knee. I understand, if Reinhart is a player on my team, i'd be likely just as vocal.

You know more about the sport than me, but I don't see how hitting a guy on the side of his knee isn't dirty, whether it's knee on knee or hip on knee, it's still a hit on a player's knee, there's no place for that in hockey. I hope I'm wrong, but knees aren't supposed to bend like that, I'm worried it's a torn ligament, MRI today so we'll see

Be careful; you're going to wake up the "Pussification of Hockey people" to complain. They've come a long way already and did a pretty good job at that, IMO, compared to when they used to wear no helmets, have 2-3 fights a game, and played 4-hour hockey games where the toughest team won. We are at a combination of strength and toughness now. Attendance is way up, and so are the ratings. I don't want them messing with my sport much further.

Dr. Harjas Grewal@Harjas_Grewal·

Concern is an MCL injury for Reinhart. Time off depends on grade

Grade 1: day-to-day
Grade 2: 4-6 weeks
Grade 3: months out and rarely even surgical

Less likely but also possible is a torn ACL (5+ months out)

Hit a player anywhere you want, you don't go for a guy's head or his knees, any other body part is fair game. Fuck Aho, his dose of karma is coming

Nope

Hoping it's a replay of last year's final(Flor-Edm) but wouldn't have a lean on either team in that matchup.

Going to add extra units on the Oilers to win the series against the Stars, right now the line is -149 at pinny.

Where can I bet on will Brind Amour be fired?

NOT!
SO!
FAST!

Before this season he signed a 5-year contract, meaning he has 4 more years left. Eating it would not be cheap. Can't see him getting canned with 4 years left

It was very telling at the end of the game last night. When the game was no longer in doubt, Tkachuk went after Aho, hunted him down the ice and went after him, took him down and got a penalty, and not one Hurricane player went to help him, not one of his teammates pulled Tkachuk off him and challenged him. That's a team that's basically quit, none of his teammates had his back, someone should have jumped on Tkachuk and dropped the gloves, it wouldn't have mattered if he got his ass kicked, it would have shown his teammates that they have each other's back and would have gotten respect, no one came to his defense, tells you all you need to know about where they are mentally and physically right now. I promise you had a Canes player did that to a Panther, Tkachuk, Bennett, or whoever else was on the ice would have done something about it. And it's not over yet for Aho, if game four gets out of hand like the first three, I can assure you the Panthers aren't done with Aho, they'll hunt him and get their recompence

Unbelievable getting a 5 year deal after getting swept last year. Only in America.
As an inexperienced coach when appointed, I believe he made under a million on his first contract. 600K. Previously they had missed the playoffs in 9 straight seasons and 11 of the last 12 before his hire. I couldn't find a salary for him but the highest paid was Mike Sullivan for Pittsburgh before they parted ways and he signed on with the Rangers. He was making 5.5M in his last season in Pittsburgh. The info I found says he's making $1.8m after guiding the Canes to 7 straight playoff seasons. With only 1 1st round knockout of the 7. A couple of things Winky failed to understand and that is a lot of that raise covers past performance, not future returns. And these coaches' salaries are NOT counted against the cap. Not to mention his new team should they sign him, normally renegotiates his new team's salary but is now responsible for the remaining years on the current contract. And he cannot be paid by 2 teams unless his agent negotiates that. By comparison, the Red Wings will likely buy out and eat the remaining year's contracts on 2-3 players. Mainly Justin Holls $3.4M and Compher and Copp both over $5m. And Brind Amour would likely be picked up quickly should that happen. So canning him with 4 years remaining is pretty insignificant. He captained the team's last and only Stanly Cup win in 06. He's well loved by the Carolina fan base. I could be wrong, but I doubt he's going anywhere. He honestly did a very good job with this group. The numbers don't lie.
