Last September my insurance provider sent me a letter saying they were dropping everyone in Florida, I was planning on checking into Obamacare, but didn't think it was urgent for me to get it, boy was I wrong. So right now I'm uninsured, and I don't even want to think of what kind of bill I'll be looking at.

Quick update:
The pain on my right side is unbearable. Sit down then put your right hand under your right butt cheek. That one spot where the cheek and body intersect is WHAT IS KILLING ME! The pain is unbearable. I am OK when standing but sleeping cannot be done standing up. When I lay in bed I am on my stomach because on my butt would make me scream so loud JK could hear me in CR (He should also be able to hear me when I scream in pain on my stomach).
It no longer appears to be a Sciatica issue. My left side is fine. My right side from my waist to the end of my butt has massive swelling. That is the problem. I go to all of these specialists and no one has any idea. I went to see a Neurologist and he did a "Nerve Conduction" test and found nothing out of the ordinary. My Ortho wants me to see the PA I have seen a few times to discus pain medication. I said I would only do so if I could get an X-Ray of my right hip as the euro said I should. They said OK so I will get that Monday. Wednesday I am getting a MRI on my Pelvis................THE SAME MOTHERFUCKING THING I WANTED THEM TO DO IN MAY!
No idea what will happen between now and Wednesday but something better because even though I have a very high pain threshold it has long since been topped. On a 1-10 pain scale my right side between the waist/knee is at least a 15. I am now down over 25 pounds - all muscle. I look awful . I know it and there is nothing I can do about it. I just hope someone can. I am running out of patience. I am a walking zombie yet cannot get any sleep at night which only makes matters worse. My family won't let me drive because of it. Probably a good move

Have you seen a regular physician who can run blood tests? Specialists are only going to look for a diagnosis in their speciality field, whereas a blood test is more encompassing. If the blood work comes back clean, we can deal with the origin of this pain. I have had several nerve blocks and two spinal surgeries (C4-C5 fusion and L5-S1 fusion) and I would not recommend going down that path.

At the time my insurance got dropped I was fine, no health issues, so I didn't feel the need to immediately get another insurance, eventually I was going to look into Obamacare, but there wasn't any urgency, what sent me to the hospital came on rather sudden, no way to see it coming

When i retired i declined the cobra from my employer and signed up for obama care for 3 months, it was a quick easy process, with the tax credit paying about 75% of the bill. I dont know how old you are, but if you're over 30-35 you just cant take the chance of going uninsured(unless if you're broke).

As in most scams there is plenty of blame to go around here. Since this was about Winky I was directing my thoughts to him.......
With people gaming the system, faking injuries and so on to get pills it makes it harder for people like Winky to get the help they need.
But yes, people that get hit at 5MPH at a red light are in large part responsible.
They game the system and then come the doctors, lawyers, "chiropractors" and everyone else to get a piece of the pie.
The insurance company just passes the cost on to the rest of us. (plus another 150% for administrative costs)

That's how it works.
The Biggest Thing that Insurance Companies have in their favor is that the Product they sell is Mandatory in almost all situations.
Which in turn, allows them to pass on their costs to the consumer.

in the medical system / equipment there is no pain meter. The MRI does not show pain. It does not show nerves. I was watching a show they said they are 50-75 years away before they have a pain meter. Injuries in the spine sometimes are not seen. However the pain could be there. It is hard for the doctor to just hand over pills. Some doctors are easier than others. Drugs for pain work for a while . The body gets use to the drugs. Doctors say the body resets in 5 weeks when drug free. . It gets harder when you are older. Not as mobile.

I spoke with him friday night at 4, his right butt cheek is swollen and where most of pain is. The pain is idiopathic

In some cases it is possible to get a special enrollment. Marriage - child in family - change in jobs - change of state. If the insurance plan dropped you - there is 60 days to enroll in a new plan. Doesn't sound like there was a Cobra offer or anything?
