The Bellagio Conservatory will begin its transformation from a Northeastern autumn into a winter wonderland during the early morning hours Sunday.
Workers will shut down the Bellagio?s fall display at 2 a.m. Sunday to bring in thousands of flowers, lights and ornaments for the annual showcase. The conservatory will reopen Friday, Dec. 3, with the holiday display.
During the five-day closure, visitors will see more than 70 workers bringing Santa?s sleigh and reindeer to life at the conservatory. This year?s display will include a family of 28 penguins, a mother and baby polar bear made of 16,000 white carnations and four 15-foot-tall toy soldiers.
A 42-foot Shasta Fir with 7,000 lights and 1,800 ornaments will be the centerpiece of the holiday display.
The winter wonderland display will run through Jan. 2 before the resort prepares for the Chinese New Year exhibit.
The resort?s 140 horticulturists transform the Bellagio Conservatory five times each year ? from spring to summer to fall to winter to a Chinese New Year celebration.
