When I use to frequent the Grand in Gulfport, I heard from one of the pit bosses that Smoltz won about 50k playing blackjack (2 deck pitch) on night there. This was the year that he was hurt and came back the next year as a reliever.

Yancey Thigpen whipped a Tunica Casino for like 200K and I think they fired the pit boss or the dealer (not sure) who sued.

Know of a couple of NBA guys I would rather not mention.


They stiff the credit people because they can. Some form of twisted mind that thinks, well I paid out 15k etc. that ought to be good. A form of bluff because they don't think anybody will come after them. Big shots think they can get credit anywhere and they work it like a scam. Collect at the credit shops they win at and when they lose they don't pay or settle for a % and move on and stiff the next guy with a I am a big whale rap.

Man, collect the winners and don't pay when you lose - tightwad schmucks!

Apparently, David Wells was wearing an online casino's hat during his press conference tonight.

Somehow it wouldn't surprise me if he was a big gambler. But that's just pure speculation.

As for Phil, if anyone knows if that is really true that would be a damn shame if he's a stiff. That would totally change my perception of him. I also have a little cousin who is a golf addict and Phil's his favorite player. If he ever found that out, he'd be really bummed.

One never knows how much truth is to some of the stuff we read on the internet. I can't recall where I read the article or who wrote it either. But it did say that Phil M....... had BIG gambling debts somwhere in Vegas. I'm not sure if it also said he hadn't paid them or not. Don't know exactly why--but there's something about him that seems fake to me.
