In a normal NFL season under the old 12-team playoff format, the Bills and Saints this week would be resting for the Divisional Round while the Colts and Bears would have been eliminated from the postseason.

Instead, the #2 seeds in the AFC and NFC are forced into action and the #7 seeds are simply glad to be part of the expanded playoff format.

Will the NFL go to a 16-team playoff format next season?

Seems like the growing trend in professional sports is to expand the playoff format.

Don’t mind expansion but teams with less than a .500 record should not be allowed in the playoffs and that goes for division leaders...the NFC East included....

Part of what made Philly's fourth-quarter strategy to surrender against the desperate Redskins so disturbing was the subpar play of all four NFC East teams this season.

Furthermore, the Redskins not only gain a playoff spot but also a #4 seed.

I get it while the Giants are upset. But hard to be upset when you won as many games as the last place team in the NFC West. You lost TEN game, G-men. TEN! Losing a Bo Derek number of games in a 16 game season is not something to then cry about not making the playoffs.

Bills and Saints should both win - Saints easier than Bills. And the fact both would be at home the next week against a team that also played this week makes things a little more even.

I think the Chefs are gonna struggle next week. Their star players will have been off for 3 weeks. I think the Titans/Ravens winner is a very live dog to go to a place with little-to-no fans and win SU

put everyone in the same division as many you want in playoffs get in. Easy fix. However does not look as good when you look at the standings on the sports page.

It would be an absolute joke for literally half the teams in the league to be eligible for the postseason if that decision was made. While it's nice to see that more revenue and competitiveness would enhance the league, 14 teams is too many as well. It's embarrassing enough to see for only the 5th time a division winner under .500 is taking place hosting. first round wildcard game, but if there's no way around that, it should have been kept traditional before this pandemic season that where there wasn't a need for further tweakimg.

Too bad the Colts are a dome team, I think they have a real chance of winning in Buffalo. Better ways to make money than laying points against hot running teams in the playoffs. This applies to Balt-Tenn also.

Colts are going to take so much out of Buffalo that they won't have anything left for the following weekend against KC. KC gonna smoke them. The way the cookie crumbles...

Same applies to Green Bay, they cannot play NO next week. I’m sure they are rooting for the Bears as they would get them.

About the Chicago-New Orleans game: Neither Trubisky nor Brees will be the starting quarterback for their respective teams when the 2021 NFL season gets underway.

Trubisky is not under contract and Brees is likely to retire.

And Mitch hasn't faced a top 10 defense all year. Foles was the QB when NO won in Chicago.
