im not gonna lie...from what i remember of that draft all the speculation of VY reuniting in houston were left at the door weeks before the draft...houston was sold on williams and bush

ATX hasn't made one comment that has been remotely close to accurate yet. Its embarrassing.

I live in Houston, and it was clear they were not drafting VY from the beginning. Everyone knew this, not many were happy though.

no it wasn't.

I'm talking about when Vince when home to Houston after the Leno show. That is when Houston gave him word and only then did he decide to come out after talking with his mom and pastor in Houston. He wanted to stay in school, and the only way he would leave is for a chance to play pro ball in Houston.

You are not talking about anything. No one thought VY would go #1 and he did not. Wrong again for mr ATX. I know a QB coach in the NFL who knew Young wouldn't go #1. Nobody in the world, other than you thought it was a possibility.

Maybe they forgot to tell him that they had recently taken a Qb, they had a lame duck GM, and he was never really an option with the #1 overall pick. Mere oversight I suppose.

VY didnt go #1 for whatever reason and thats that...no reason to go on w/ something that clearly happened almost 3 years ago

I hate to argue with you here, bc you say you are connected to the program and you can't talk about anything like that. But you and I both know that you are wrong. Vince did want to stay in school, but he was convinced that he needed to leave because he stock would never be higher. This is from his agent Major Adams, who is probably the worst agent in history.

Now, about my question regarding Peterson and Young. Are able to answer that one. You have to be tired of being wrong so many times all in one thread.

Yep. You, me, quebb, Vince, Atx, and everyone else knows that he is wrong about this and a few other things. Most notably Vince and Peterson not panning out as the top recruits in their classes. Thats hilarious.

not sure about the rest.

it's not worth it to have a lot of the problems that come with these head cases. see FSU currently...

when's the last time an NCAA running back took his team and won the title?

and when's the last time a consensus #1 actually lived up to that?

Ironically, Peyton Manning.

this is what I said.

the first one was answered as being Maurice Clarett. I think that's close enough to being right. I'm not sure what he really lived up to though, as far as right now. My point was that not too many RB's make or break title hopes. the 2nd one? I was looking at more publications as far as being a consensus #1 coming out of HS. I don't remember who snubbed Vince Young.

both questions are open to interpretation. there's not necessarily a right or wrong answer. I wasn't aware that not everyone had developed this type of communication skills.

russell > young? :+clueless

i think barring any major injuries or substantial decline in performance from young he wouldve been #1 the next year if the draft order was the same...hell russell might not have been a 1st round pick!!!

No. You very clearly said that Manning was the last top recruit to live up to 'that'. That, in no uncertain terms, is wrong. You said something. You are wrong. Your communication skills have proven to be horrendous in this thread and your lack of ability to admit a mistake is nothing short of comical. People are wrong, for instance, you right here. It happens. There was nothing left open for interpretation, your claim that Manning was the last top recruit to live up to that distinction could not have been any more wrong. Hell, he never even beat Florida. The season after he left they did beat Fla and they won the title. What now? What do you have to say to that?

You talk about RBs not leading their teams to titles as the top recruit? However, you claim Manning was the last player to live up to that Billing and he went 0-4 vs his schools biggest rival. 0-4 and got smashed most years. What, exactly, did he lead his team to? huh?

You're wrong dude and its not close. You lose.

Young wins a title but doesnt live up to being the #1 recruit?
Manning was 0-4 vs his biggest rival, never won a title, his team one the season after he left, but he did live up to the billing.
Peterson was the best back in college and is currently the best back in the nfl but he didnt live up to the billing either.

The problem here is ATX doesn't have a clue as to what he is talking about. He sets up different criteria for different things because he is in over his head in this debate. He got dominated and I enjoyed finishing the debate with my last post. I don't envy poor ATX in this one.

#1s pan out often in ncaa. NFL is a different subject. But getting a #1 for college basically guarantees u will have an amazing player on your team

Re: BRYCE BROWN TO TENNESSEE!!!!!

Right. And that was what Major Adams, probably the worst or least credible sports agent said publicly. The agent who screwed the whole thing up. Adams was more to blame for the whole debacle than the Texans.

Re: BRYCE BROWN TO TENNESSEE!!!!!

You lose.

Yep. That is a fact. Explain that to ATX in terms that he can understand.

Re: BRYCE BROWN TO TENNESSEE!!!!!

Well, thats not true. Russell can throw a football further than young and with more velocity. Thats life.

Intangibles? oh god. Who are we talking, jeter?

they can both throw it 70+...where it lands nobody knows...velocity? thats for the physicists to decide

intangibles...say it w/ me now...IN-TAN-GI-BLES!

hes just always seemed to make a play when the team needed it in college...and weve already seen glimpses in the nfl...he is a better scrambler and more versatile on the field IMO...russell had a great college career as well...but didnt make near as many of those intangible plays VY did

Terrible agent and a GM that was on his way out didn't create ideal circumstances for Vince.

Yeah, I can just watch them throw a ball and know who has the far superior arm. That is Jamarcus.

ill say that jamarcus can throw it further than VY...but when youre talking about two people who can probably both throw 75+ i dont think it matters for even the pissing match when it comes to the #1 draft pick...no way al davis would take russell over VY if that was an option in the 07 draft

I just checked rivals from 2002-2008 and Claussen was the only #1 who sucked. So 6/7 rocked out.

#2s u could make the same case for. I think one is questionable so 6/7 there also
