Nope. Publicity stunt.

Look how many steps she takes.

NFL kickers kick after the second step. She took 5

Block city....

Come on what a joke. Nothing against her, but kicking is a specialized skill. It's not just have a strong leg.

So basically that was a kickoff that happened to go thru the uprights.

BTW was that her first and only try? Or the (only) one that was successful?

She should narrow her scope to extra-point specialist.

And then the "stunt" is more realistic.

I said the same thing and like you - got killed for it on social media. I said she'd never get a kick past the line of scrimmage. Nice publicity stunt but nothing more.

In the clips she takes a running "kickoff' start, that's not how you kick fg's. Field goals are usually 1 or at most 2 steps and a kick.

Lower Heim Power Rating 6 p;oints ............LOL...........MAYBE she could play for the arena league ? .....small venue ?..........even that is a stretch...........i bet this girl could even kick in high heels........hehe

No. She'll be 38. Most male kickers are done by that age. Maybe if she was in her early 20's and trained for a couple of years to do this and only this, but this is just a publicity stunt. It might open up such a door in the future, because if a woman is ever gonna play NFL Football, that's the position. I'd bet Arians is the one who offered her the shot. He's trying to open doors for women to get into the NFL.

Gotta believe NFL kickers are getting help from the medicine cabinet.

Fifty-yard field goals routinely land high on the net.

Is any sport free of performance-enhancing drugs?

ICYMI......a GM sent her a private message inviting her to kick tonight however the girls have a game......so there is interest out
there and yes a lot has to do with positive pub for the league. However, that kick would have been good from 65 and they
can work on her approach at one of the many kicking clinics during the summer. Ultimately she has a decent shot at.....the XFL.

Idk about that. I had never kicked a football in my life but grew up playing soccer and the first 40 yarder I tried in college on the practice facility was good. I’m guessing 45 would have been my max comfort range but I knew plenty of soccer players that would be stronger and could make 50 easy and that’s with no training and practice.

I truly believe kicking and punting are just two things that don’t get glory so kids don’t grow up wanting to do it. I’m gonna teach my kid how though...

It seems a few years ago NFL kickers really improved in terms of accuracy and distance.

Maybe the balls are juiced.

Or kickers take their conditioning, training and learning seriously because the money's so good. Its hilarious seeing pics of total non-athletes like Tom Dempsey or Garo Yepremian and thinking these guys were the best there was back then. Janikowski might be the last of the breed of out of shape professional kickers.

The Titans are expected to sign former Bears kicker Cody Parkey on Tuesday, according to NFL Network.

Parkey infamously double-doinked the potential playoff game-winner against the Eagles, appeared on the “Today” show the next week and was later cut by the Bears. Parkey wasn’t signed by an NFL team after the team’s release of him became official in March.

He did not kick for a single team in training camp, though tried out for clubs once the regular season began.

Parkey is expected to take the place of Cairo Santos, another former Bears kicker, who missed four field goals in the Titans’ 14-7 home loss to the Bills.

There are many reasons for the much improved kicking in the 2000’s, vs the 60’s :

The physics of soccer style kicks is much more effective than straight-on kicks. The ‘sweet spot’ is larger, the margin of error is larger, it’s more ‘forgiving’. Same dynamics as ‘Y’ shaped tennis handles. Bjorn Borg tried making a comeback a few years ago using an old fashioned ‘T’ racket: he was ridiculed & got crushed. Same principal.

Kickers probably were paid under $20k for a season, so much less incentive to dedicate your life to it.
Nowadays, kickers can make millions, so eating & exercise becomes vital.

Teams gave much lower priority to kicking than they should have. A kicker in the 60’swith accuracy in the low 50% range was acceptable. Anything under low 70’s now gets u fired. JFC, Lou Groza was hailed as ‘The Toe’. He was an offensive lineman, horrific by today standards; kickers were arguably an afterthought. Competent analytics would give 1950-60’s teams a huge edge.

Many kickers use sports psychologists to deal adversity, and apparently it works.

And there is absolutely, positively no fukking way a woman kicker could make an NFL roster in a meritocracy. Rule of thumb: In sports that require human musclepower (as opposed to car racing, horse racing or technique-dominated sports like pool), top women athletes have a skill level of around a good high school boy athlete. I wanted to barf when soooo many people claimed the soccer USNWT was better than the men’s. They were literally soundly beaten by mediocre high school boys teams.

Also, trivia: who was the last full-time head-on kicker in the NFL?

Last week in the track and field world championships, they have a new event, mixed men and women's relay, each leg was 400 meters. The Polish team ran their men and women in a different order than the rest, resulting in one of their women running the final leg against men. Because a polish man ran against all women he gave their woman runner a 50-60 yd lead, the american male who took the baton ran her down in less than 100 yds and ran by her like Usian Bolt running by Rush Limbaugh , she finished at least 100 yds behind him.

I did not look this up but I think...............Mark Moseley for the Redskins

Yes, it was Mark Moseley...
I assumed Redskins too, but technically he ended his career with the Cleveland Browns.
He’s a candidate for the ‘I didn’t know he played with that team’ thread (he may even be on it).
