Call me crazy, I like the free Dog n Pony shows.circus circus was the official vegas day care center in the 80s
good... maybe more books. Should of happened years ago.
I've never been to Circus. I'm figuring it's among the last of the classic 'old-school' casinos. Hope I make it there before it gets revamped/torn down.

Older places like Stardust Riviera and even New Frontier had charm to them. Circus Circus did not, Still have the best Steakhouse around though.
I wouldn't make that assumption, MrTop...I haven't heard anything but my guess would be that if Ruffin bought CircusCircus that it would be networked with his Treasure Island book...and "NY consortium" owner of Rio would be obvious target of William Hill/CG Technology/etc., though I guess maybe that would be open to possibility of a new company entering Vegas market. We can hope.
I am just getting my hopes up if there is some air left in the business ... I thought once it went legal things would open up more than it did everywhere. Tuley, I like your work from your site thru the years.
Unfortunately its just like all businesses, it opens up and all kinds of people think they can win market share and make lots of money. Within a few years though the bad operations and practices, like huge free play and bonuses, fall away and you are left with 5-10 solid operators. Then in the coming years, those guys start to merge and it becomes even more limited.
Not supposedly anymoreSupposedly Ruffin bought the Circus
I used to be able to get a good cheap hot dog all over Vegas. 3 years ago I didn't see a single hot dog cart. Those hot dogs saved me from starvation in the 80s and 90s.
Good one at the Barbary Coast too.
They should rebuild the old westward ho on that land, it would be a true gold mine, bring back that cheap snack bar and the champaign and bloody mary fountain.Didn't realize the MGM Festival grounds were a part of the sale. Some speculation that Ruffin sells the CC to Boyd (former owner of old Stardust site) and then develops a new property at Sahara and the strip.
I remember the startdust hotdog.. I use to fly 2500 miles just to eat that hotdog
October 27, 1989................I was in Vegas that weekend. That Saturday I made a 5-team CFB Parlay. After making the bet I went next door to "Slots of Fun" and bought a 1/2-pound hot dog for 99-cents. I got lucky on 3 of the first 4 plays and now I had a live ticket heading into the last game: Bama -8.5 @ Ole Miss. Back then not many games were on TV and this was one of them. No TV so I had to rely on the ticker at the Stardust to keep me informed. 2 minutes into the game the ticker says: 7-0 Miss. Seemingly 2 minutes later: 14-0. Seemingly 2 minutes later it is 21-0 and I am shaking my head lamenting the fact I just lost the chance to win over $1000. So I leave and go do something to take my mind the game. I come back later and see the final score: Bama 62-27. HOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYY FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!
I know I won the 5-teamer because of the hot dog so every time I came back to town I had to go to Slots and get one.
Those 1/2 lb's were nasty and good.. i liked to hold it down by my waist and show the ladies that there's a new sheriff in town.October 27, 1989................I was in Vegas that weekend. When I was out there with friends, punishment for making a stupid bet was having to eat a slots o fun hotdog and watch a circus act at CC
I loved the Riviera Stardust Frontier " triangle"
