Wow, what's the background story on the other 25 million + that have likely had it?

A buddy of mine just got a bootleg haircut today, he said it's exciting when you're dealing with the haircut cartel.

I guess playing Russian Roulette is exciting too. Will your friend feel excited if he contracts the virus?

NY has 350,000 confirmed cases, if that's 10% of the real number that means 3.5 million Ny'ers have already had it...any hair cutters in that total?

I know the media playbook is to peddle fear, "fear the barber" is a new one, I dont think it'll catch on. The child corona syndrome is much more scary, best stick with that one.

The problem with you is you're funny, but not amusing. The life of a liberal i guess.

I'm ready to head to a bar tomorrow, more important for me to get drunk at the local watering hole and risk catching the virus than staying safe and virus free. Maybe I'll call that Barber in NY, see if he can make a house call, I really need a hair cut. The virus is over, let's open up baby! Get those bars, gyms, and salons open!

Sigh...see what I mean, it's just not funny. you'll never make it in standup sir.

What are you going to do? Never get a haircut until the virus is 100% eradicated? We can't live in that much fear. I will be getting a haircut as soon as they have an opening.

An interesting little blurb about georgia...

Well, would you look at that.

Three weeks have passed since Georgia started reopening its economy, and the feared apocalyptic resurgence in the coronavirus that was supposed to overwhelm the state's health-care system and cost thousands of lives hasn't come to pass. And many of the same experts who warned against reopening the state "prematurely" - a group that includes Dr. Tony Fauci - are now conspicuously silent.

Meanwhile, other experts have pointed out that Georgia's reopening, along with the reopenings of others states like Tennessee, South Carolina and Texas, has so far worked out.

And if Georgia's reopening has been a success so far, then in theory, "no state is going too fast."
Some Wall Street economists say a continued decline in serious illnesses suggests Georgia’s reopening may encourage other states to ease restrictions and lead to an eventual resumption in economic activity in the US.
"Georgia is a bellwether mainly because the reopening has been so aggressive,” said Stephen Stanley, chief economist at Amherst Pierpont Securities LLC, who cited in a research note Wednesday an almost 20% drop in Georgia’s Covid-19 patients in the past week or so.
"The other aggressive states, like Florida and Texas, are still opening up more slowly," Stanley said in an interview. "So if Georgia is successful then, in theory, no one is going too fast - there should be a strong presumption that reopenings everywhere else should be successful."
Kemp lifted a state order on April 24, allowing nail salons, hairdressers, bowling alleys and gyms to reopen so long as they followed state protocols. Restaurants and theaters were given the go-ahead three days later.
To be sure, as BBG explains, it's too early to declare "Mission Accomplished". Georgia has suffered a lot, but even as hospitalizations and the spread slow, a new “hot spot” of cases has emerged north of Atlanta, and the risk of spread remains moderate.

But one thing is clear: A few weeks ago, the mayor of Atlanta, and several other Democratic mayors of the state's largest cities, slammed Kemp and implied that he was putting lives at risk for the sake of the president's reelection campaign.

At the time, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said she was “dumbfounded” and “extremely concerned" by the decision.

To be fair, lots of things dumbfound her

Of course not, that's too extreme, I just think opening up the country now is too early and will lead to unnecessary deaths, I would wait another 6 weeks and see how things are then

Some news on the California Indian casino possible openings:

Despite the California governor’s guidelines, the LA Times reports that three San Diego area casinos have told customers that they plan to reopen over the next week with a focus on safety. Sycuan Casino Resort, for example, will stagger available slot machines and limit card tables to three players, and the Viejas Casino & Resort said it will enforce physical distancing and conduct temperature checks before entry.

I saw a report that the evil one...whitmer, said she would fine anyone who goes to a casino $1000 if they reopen without her consent. Something tells me she's coming to a bad ending?

How can she fine someone for going on Tribal lands? The only casinos that are not tribal are the Detroit casinos. Sounds like a story to me.

I read she said it they would fine non tribal members who enter the reservation to go to a casino, no idea if it's true or not.

Tribal chairperson Kenneth Meshigaud told Native News Online that the tribe’s attempt to reach out to state officials did not go as planned.

Instead, officials warned Meshigaud that, while the state could not legally prevent Island Resort from opening, it could target off-reservation casino employees and customers with violating the governor’s orders.

This meant they would be subject to fines of $1,000 per violation or per day for entering the casino, officials said.

“We got a letter by email on May 5 that told us about the measures the governor had taken to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic in Michigan, such as declaring the state of emergency, stay-at-home orders, and explanation of the governor’s authority,” Meshigaud said.

I don’t see how that’s possible. Thanks for the post.

What's the matter with you michiganders? How come some of the western and northern counties haven't banded together yet? Get almost every business to open at once, have the police protect them if the state police come? it wouldn't be hard, all it takes is courage.

She would back down in an instant if she thought she could lose.

Has Minnesota employee these tactics?

I don't know the egress routes from the Michigan Indian casinos, but I would think you could install traffic cams/photos on the public road side of the entrances. Then just filter the Indian license plates and ticket everyone else. How Orwellian.

No, as of today the stay at home order is lifted, every retail business in the state can reopen for in person sales(subject to 50% capacity that really means nothing since most stores never get that busy), The Gov said the remaining businesses on hold (bars/rest/hair/gyms) can reopen on june 1st. For us, many sectors never shut down, like construction.

There have been scattered businesses that are reopening on their own, one bar today is in the news, I'm sure the Nazi state will be harsh on him.

Nit-Whitmer only has a data-driven decision based on science when she closes the state, but not when she opens it. What a joke.

Whitmer caves, allows businesses to reopen (including bars) in much of northern MI, it's a start for sure.

A little(or a lot) of pressure is all it takes.

The people owning rentals are still going to get crushed. They are one of the businesses excluded.

Yea, but if you're gonna open the bars, no reason not to let resorts open. that's the problem though, everything they do is based on whims, not science.
I agree. I hate listening to her pressers, it has the feeling of her talking down to you and scolding. The logic of resorts and campgrounds not opening - she doesn’t want people driving up there. She reminded us today. Traverse City and Torch Lake are Playgrounds for Chicago and Detroit. People get $2000 and up for their rentals

Did you see the moron Cuomo's presser, he said he wants anyone who has any symptoms to come in and get a test, probably because he's upset that new cases are falling and that puts pressure on him to open. Then he said it's because New yorkers are lazy, 10 days ago he was saying the opposite, dont come in.

Lol

There was a big spike one day last week in Michigan. It was the day the prisoners were tested.

Hey Bob. I heard today that real estate in your area is moving at warp speed as owners relocate from SF, Silicon Valley. Supposedly, for a less stressful and cleaner living accentuated by C19. Is this what you see. Thanks.

I haven't seen a huge move in real estate prices (pretty stable) in Reno/Tahoe over the last 3 months. Prices are way up from the 2008-12 bottom.

Personally, I've migrated from Sausalito to Squaw Valley to Sparks over the last 2 decades. Many upscale suburbs/venues near Reno should appeal to California refugees, like Incline Village, Stateline, Somersett, Verdi, Galena, Arrow Creek, Spanish Springs (I'm close), Fernley, Carson City, Genoa, etc.
