Clayton Richard will face the Rangers tomorrow

This is a 6-5 lefty thats had very good AAA numbers this season. Born in 1983 is still young enough to be considered a prospect and he'll get his time to prove himself tomorrow. He has shown excellent control in the minors, is only giving up 0.47 HR/9, and his HA/IP ratio is good. The Rangers have hit 30 points worse vs lefties in 2008 and Millwood has been awful of late.

The Cubs acquired left-hander Clayton Richard from the Pirates on Friday and plan to start him Saturday night against the Marlins.

Richard, who began his career with the White Sox, was obtained for cash considerations. The Cubs sent pitcher Donn Roach to Triple-A Iowa to make room on the roster.

The 31-year-old Richard, who has dealt with shoulder injuries throughout his career, has not pitched in the majors since June 2013. This year he pitched at Triple-A Indianapolis and had a 2.09 ERA over 56 innings.

The Sox picked Richard in the eighth round of the 2005 draft and traded him to the Padres on July 31, 2009, with three other players for pitcher Jake Peavy. Richard is 46-47 with a 4.33 ERA over six seasons.
