I took a look at tomorrow's Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park.

Yes, there will not be 100,000 people there if they run at all.
The sports world may be over-reacting. In 2017 according to the CDC total deaths from or related to flu in the USA was 61,100..an estimate. Right now the Corona deaths in the U.S this year is only 51. This amount may go up a bit but not likely to be much over 200. Flu season is coming to an end and we are likely already passed peak infection amounts.. So when you put it in perspective its not likely to more that part of a regular flu season. Sanitation habit variances are not likely to make it worse.

As for the Draft, according to my sources, Las Vegas is already canceled — it just hasn’t been announced yet — and the league will announce the Draft is being postponed until late May at least — as soon as the NFLPA’s decision on the new CBA is announced.

The NHL could announce plans to finish its stalled season as early as next week, according to multiple reports.
And if the Return to Play committee — formed by league officials and the players union — sticks with one proposal that has been discussed for weeks, the season would jump right to the playoffs under a 24-team play-in format — and the Chicago Blackhawks would be the last team in from the Western Conference.
Expanding the playoffs from 16 teams to 24 would be a concession to the clubs that were in the running for a playoff spot before the NHL suspended the season March 12 because of the coronavirus pandemic — and it would expand the TV markets that might tune in.
Whatever the format, the relaunch likely will be take place in eight or nine hub cities, according to reports.
“My feeling is there is gaining momentum on a plan,” Flames general manager Brad Treliving told the Calgary Herald, though he didn’t reveal details. “Everything is going to be subject to when you can execute the plan. They’re hopefully getting to a point (where a decision will be made). But we’ll see. But hopefully by next week we could be in a position where they have a plan.”
If the NHL went with 24 playoff teams, the 32-30-8 Hawks, who are six points back in the wild card, would make the cut as the 12th-place team in the West.
Depending on how the top-four bye teams would be chosen, the Hawks would face the Stars or Oilers in a likely best-of-three play-in series. The Stars have a better winning percentage (.594 to .585), but the Oilers are second in the Pacific Division while the Stars are third in the Central, and the Oilers have played two more games.

This shouldn't be terribly difficult for the NBA and NHL. They've already completed 75-80% of their regular season. Just go straight to a playoff. Not so easy for MLB. The clock is ticking. They don't have all day. Pitchers need a good 3 weeks minimum for spring training to get ready. Start too late and you bump up against cold weather and you don't have enough of an offseason to get ready for 2021. You also are going head to head with the NFL, which may have worked in the 60s and 70s, but not anymore. Anything less than 80 games and the MLB season is meaningless. Just not worth starting. For the NFL, the big issue is will it allow fans, and how many?

I think MLB has a lot of issues, really starting to seem like it makes no sense to have a season. Its appeal has always been a clear calendar with no competition for months, the appeal of people going to an outdoor event in the summer and the length of the season allowing for the math to "even out". The desire to have the season would have a lot more strength if the NHL and NBA weren't so far along in getting things set up for what seems a likely restart, so its now not assured you get great ratings just because people are starved for content.
Now that the word is they want players to play for 35-40% of their contract values and you can see it will be really tough to make it work. Other leagues can get players to play in the playoffs because that's not all about the money and all those guys already got most of their pay. MLB players having to earn reduced checks in bad situation seems like a real problem to get past.
agree, MLB could be 2021... i think i read the players want prorated ...ha ha. that is not real... #1 the games could have a lot less people with the economy taking a hit and distancing ... if there are #2. no fans then the owners take a hit too. No win for the owners. End the season on the players by june 10th. sad for the bettors
William Hill told me they would refund my MLB RSW bets September 27. It seems somewhat unreasonable to me. A fundamental principle of bookmaking is pay the punter quickly so they can bet it again and again and maybe lose. Maybe they're thinking if they put the money in my hands now there is currently almost nothing to bet on.
