JJ,

Name me ONE poster who visits a forum regularly just for a free line service?

You can't....

The last time I checked, the guy running SBR's forum had been banned from here, was busted for having ghosts talking to himself and was giving you orders...:LMAO

TheRx is still flourishing...

EOG isn't too shabby either...

MW looks dead, I will give you that...

THE SHRINK

Shrink,I must confess that I do use their line service because it is the best one out there for free.Thats kind of hard to dispute, but the rest of it lately has really turned painfully juvenile.

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

We are going young, that is where the market is

Not with old guys posting that cannot relate anymore.

SBR John is in prison but I keep an eye on ship for nothing.

MoFo?? I never even spoke with guy. All I know is he wears a turbin everyday.

Shrink is ok but we are out to surpass even myspace.

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

it IS touting JJ

If I worked for Coke and walked into the front door of Pepsi every other day talking about how great Coke is, and had someone like Raiders sniffing my ass, posting videos that mention how great Coke is, what would that be???

If you guys were blowing everyone away, you guys wouldn't come over here with all this SBR and Mofo BS

If we wanted to read it, we'd go over there and read it

Mo wears a turbin/scarf because he is losing his hair....JJ get him a good deal on a wig.

Did you know he showed up at an elegant Christmas party wearing bum clothes with cut up socks , a skin cap and 4 yr old sneakers? Oh and he was much smaller than he claimed he was too ;)

This doesn't lie either...

For someone surpassing everyone, why does this look close?

Well, that's just stupid.

Your only claim to fame is that you can use "fuck" as every part of speech.

And I mean repeatedly.

There is absolutely no thought in anything you people post.

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

Kenny I swear the day I show up at your door you better have my shirt and barbecue shrimp on grill.

Kenny those sites are useless, best way to measure is actually look at site and see threads, ect.

Kenny sell EOG before it is too late, we will take you as a moderator.

Thanks Cuz

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

JJ,

Are you at least getting paid 2k per month now?

One would certainly hope so as much as you cry, err try, for them...

P.S.

If we wanted teenie boppers who don't gamble to post here, we'd hit myspace as well...

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

Stats DO mean something JJ. If you've ever sold advertising for a website, you'd know this because THE FIRST THING potential advertisers ask for is a copy of your stats

These are from compete.com, a VERY INDEPENDENT source that cannot be manipulated the way alexa can be by "piped in traffic" (aka bots, buying traffic ect..)

Okay, what stat makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER out of the stats below????

<table id="dataTable" class="data" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tbody><tr><th>Date: 03/2008</th> <th id="metric">People

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

btw, the first stat is people (uniques)

the 2nd stat is "visits"

the 3rd stat is "rank"

something is WAY OFF here

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

We are slowly evolving from legal scholars interpreting the confiscation of the 750K on the traffic stop, to Internet advertising executives.

I mean really.

Is there anything we can't do?

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

Everything is possible Jeff IF YOU BELIEVE :houra

Okay, now back to these stats:

According to these set of stats I've posted. EOG had 48,514 unique visitors in the month of March, SBR had 32,603

EOG's traffic rating is 37,143. SBR's is 52,964. That makes sense, more unique visitors, higher rankings.

Okay, what DOES NOT make sense is that EOG had 56,478 visits in the month of March month and SBR is somehow KILLING EOG in visits with a WHOPPING 104,781 in the month of March

COULD THAT BE SAYING THAT A GUY SPENDS MUCH MORE TIME AT EOG PER VISIT....WHILE AN SBR PERSON COMES AND GOES AND COMES AND GOES???

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

well Devil, you would think that would translate into "uniques" and "rating" UNLESS it was the same IP coming and going

I'm about to share with our posters here at EOG the "seedy, unspoken side" of forum building here in a minute

While that might be true Devil, there are other reasons for that as well. For instance, one guy, one computer, several ghosts. He would have to log in and out each time. Another manner would be to use a rank booster, which is a computer program that when running will click on and off of a site once you type the url in.

This can generate hundreds to thousands of "views" an hour. It varies from program to program. (This is one way to boost alexa rankings)

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

As much as I enjoy the forums, I wouldn't pony up a penny to read or post on them.

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

You're on the right track Blondie. You wouldn't even have to log in and out though

A rank booster is also a good possibility

Finishing up some capping, will elaborate in a few

If the person ghosting would want to have a conversation with himself/herself on the forum they would. Although it is possible to have two people logged in on one computer if one is on Firefox and the other is on Internet Explorer.

Blondie, are you saying that one poster could talk to 5 or 6 of their ghost in rapid succession? That would explain alot of things.

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

Well, more than likely the same person would be logged in on 2, 3 , or even 4 different browsers. Though I would guess 3 at the most if you have a computer with good RAM

I believe GHOSTING may be the main reason for the number of visits, though as Blondie pointed out, a traffic booster could be in use.

Compete.com wouldn't be as fooled by bots, spiders and bought traffic as Alexa is since those traffic buying programs are geared to fool Alexa. Most folks experienced with traffic ratings see Alexa as about as useful as a broke dick

Now, part 2 will be about the most efficient way "you're supposed to ghost"

I suppose they could. For instance, if they had a laptop and a desktop and a bit of skill, they feasibly could have at least four user names signed in at the same time. The downside of this would be that they would have to ensure they could keep all four straight and make sure they did not post under the wrong one the wrong thing or they would be busted out on it.

Either that or if they have their user names and passwords saved into their computer, and a very fast internet connection they could log in and out. For instance, I have my user name and password saved onto my computer so I can just type the first letter of my user name and the rest will pop up.

THANK YOU,you just confirmed what I saw:+signs8-3

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

Part 2: GHOSTING to help build a forum (or manipulate one so you'll look busier)

For those that don't know, I use to run a different forum and we built it from scratch. And during the forum building process, I deemed it necessary to create ghosts to help create activity early on.

Some see it as evil or dishonest, but fact is, PEOPLE DO NOT SIGN UP AND POST ON DEAD FORUMS, no matter how much money you give away, how many contests you run, or how good in quality the posts and threads are.

If you only build it, THEY WILL NOT COME

Now, when you get into an established forum like RX, EOG or SBR, why would a MOD or owner ghost??? Well, it may be necessary to go in and ghost on rare occasions if you want something bumped that may have slipped through the cracks, or to take a shot at someone you wouldn't want to with YOUR USERNAME associated with it.

Now, THIS IS HOW YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO GHOST EFFECTIVELY AND EFFICIENTLY (to get the most posts in the less time, without having to sign in and out)

Now, you have to be organized to do this, or you will mess up and possibly get caught

You open up 3 browsers: Let's say Firefox, IE and Netscape. You go to your forum and log in with a different username on each browser. Before you hit the reply button after posting something, MAKE SURE you are on the RIGHT USERNAME

You do this, you now have 3 separate posters, BUT ONLY 1 UNIQUE IP!!!!!!!!

At that my friends, is a big reason why these stats for SBR look so strange and the "visits" simply DOES NOT match up with the "uniques" and "rankings"

<table id="dataTable" class="data" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><th>Date: 03/2008</th> <th id="metric">People

If the great JJ Gold only knew he was talking to Mo in every 3rd post lol

Re: Could a subscription-based forum actually work??

As of this very moment, 383 members of EOG have logged in the past 24 hours, while 342 SBR members have logged in, but somehow POSTWISE, they are about 30 % BUSIER than EOG.

Either those folks just LOVE posting there in rapid succession, or they've got more ghosts than a haunted hayride at Halloween

I am on good terms with Kenny

Ahh, I remember that thread. Odds are good you have not lost your mind.

Often ghosts can be busted by looking at the two posters' writing styles. Are there words or phrases that both use or spell the same way. Is one constantly stoking the ego of the other, or is one being used to constantly bump another's threads and vice versa.

The most obvious indication is when the poster posts under the wrong name. :LMAO
