Sounds really bad until we realize that U.S. troops have all their travel expenses paid when "on the job" (traveling under orders).

Active military man and EOG forum contributor ENFUEGO weighed in on this earlier today up the block

This is not exactly what they're making it out to be. We (military members) get reimbursed for baggage fees while traveling on orders. So really, they are charging Uncle Sam not the member.

AND

They simply file it as an expense when they submit their travel voucher. They're complaining that they were charged but not discussing the fact that they get paid back on the voucher. Every military person traveling goes through the same process.

AND

Those guys returning have been in the desert a long time pulling in salary at tax free and being paid at least $500 extra a month in hazardous fire pay and family separation pay. When you are in the desert, you get paid a but load of money.

Also, they have government travel cards for these expenses. They are not paying out of their pockets for this expense.

I play tennis with guy who has done 3 tours in Iraq. The 1st 90K you make each year is tax free.

If middle-class kids were being sent overseas to die, it wouldn't happen.

Obama, for political reasons, just doesn't want to be the President to lose Afghanistan.

The USA has had no business being in any war since 12-7-41. Should have just taken over the world in 1945, when the chance was there !

The US Gov't is sure at least trying to take over our lives now....why not become the world dictator back then, why the wait ?

I think they ( we) start wars just to test out new weapon technology.
