If he is overrated pile of crap than what does that say about about another NY Qb whose 13

Totally different game played by different rules back then, Doc. You know that, I'm not a great Namath fan, but you can't hold up numbers from the 60's and 70's vs. stats from today.

Merger was in place well before that game, but it helped change the perception that the AFL was inferior.

One of my favt Colts was Mike Curtis out of Duke ...

I think he played a little later if I recall .... I think #32 at LB

I remember flattening that dude that ran onto the field

Great recollection as usual, Doc. This is the play that people remember him for, even though his interception with a minute to play set up the winning FG in SB V. Some of the players gave him shit about decking that drunken fan during a big 1971 win over Miami. They were concerned that he made them look bad by abusing a Colt fan. His reponse was, "that man broke a city ordinance, and I enforced it."

remember the game vs the Packers in the Playoffs I think in 65?

Matte was forced to play qb and had the plays taped to his wrists

I remember the FG by the Pack .... as Uecker would say: "Just a bit outside"

I think .... and I could be wrong Alex .. the score was 13-10 and I think
Chandler was the fg kicker ???

You are right on all counts, Doc. That kick controversy (he clearly missed) created the longer goalposts we see to this day. Can you name the #2 QB behind Unitas who's injury necessitated Matte's change in position?

Doc, that Mike Curtis story reminds me of the time I met Dave Casper at an autograph show, great stuff, you had time to chat and ask a question or two. I asked about the Ghost to the Post play and we talked about whether or not the picture he was signing was from that game. Anyway, I had just seen a Raider clip where he said, "I had a pretty good career, won a Super Bowl, and all people want to talk about is the time I looked like a bumbling fool, kicking a ball into the end zone and falling on it."
