Don't forget to bet against black coaches

it is not tomlin. It is the quality players on the field for pittsburgh. Tomlin already won a super bowl and was an asst. coach in another one.

if a coach mattered 100% or close to it...why couldn't Belichick keep winning after the good players were gone?

Is that Gruden's older brother? LOL.
I just cant get over that haircut, he's a multi billionaire so it's certain he doesn't go to great clips or sports clips, which means he's prob paying some barber for the rich $100 or more.

Most people, even barbers take a certain amount of pride in their work, I wonder what he thinks when Mark Davis pays him $200 for that haircut and he walks out the door?

His hair appears plenty thick, I see no sign of hair loss, the moron has had that haircut since he was a kid, unlike everyone else who changes their childhood cut in their late teens, he never did.

I guess it is possible the entire thing is a toupee but my god, who would pick that as a hair hat?

I've pondered this one myself.

If he doesn't tip they're probably laughing at him when he leaves the place.

Walk around like that Mr Stiff!

He still reminds me of Gruden, can you imagine those 2 standing together at the podium after a Raiders game?

BTW isn't he a real strange MF'er? Seems like I read some weird crap about him from a while back.......

He's out there a bit for most of us.

Quick google - he's 70 and about to have a kid with his 26 year old GF.

My bad, guess he is pretty normal after all.

Taking a beating on social media, apparently......

69 year old Raiders owner said his 26 year old GF didn't know he was a billionaire, she was attracted to his smile.

At least he didn't say it was the haircut that won her over, LOL.
That's ridiculous, like she never asked him what he does...yea I own a NFL team, either that or he lies which is even worse. Any girlfriend that stupid would have a friend or relative who would tell her who he is.

no surprise the bears are 4-10 this year

Bears fans should be rejoicing the interim staff is awful just as Eberflus was.

If Brown the clown won a few games, the Chicago players would have rallied around him and they'd be forced to hire him like the Raiders hired Pierce.

The Bears seem to be all-in with black leadership.

We have to suffer through a Bears game Thursday. They need a Thursday flex.

We can see the makings of a very powerful betting angle here. Over 255 games, betting against teams that went from white to black coaches, or on teams that went from black to white coaches, compared to the opponent, profited a cool 26.4 units (actually 27.4 since CLE-DEN is not included above). Both the home and away sides of this angle were highly profitable. This was backed by a very strong average cover margin of 2.2 points per game over these games suggesting that this was not just due to teams having a lucky run in close games.

In the end, I have to go with a Fact here as this seems to be an extremely powerful angle. The black coaches really have done worse even after accounting for the market, which is the sort of thing that is hard to find in this day and age.

Believe in railbird's angles.

someone already confirmed a while back that is less than a 50-50 proposition ATS wise betting against black head coaches.

they quantified with the full sample size

you can find it online if you want.

Correct. This "angle" is useful for nothing other than instigating some spirited debate.

Houston, Tampa and Steelers just 3 examples of teams that are grossly over-producing for the talent they have.

Even RB has abandoned this for college hoops with over 300 teams, lot more outcomes to cherry pick results for the small-minded among us.

We're moving on.

Incorrect. Tomlin went 8-8 in 2012, 2013, and 2019. It's not a winning record streak. It's a non-losing regular season streak.

Other than Belichek, has anyone else put together a run like that?

Also earlier in the thread, Merlin posted "smart looking" coaches and a "dumb looking" coach. He showed O'Connell, Lafleur and then Lovie Smith. O'Connell and Lafleur are good coaches; no one is questioning that. And by the time Lovie Smith was with the Texans, he had mailed it in. But I do need to point out that Lovie Smith still has more SB appearances than O'Connell and Lafleur combined, so that analogy is clearly flawed.

Sometimes a team just has good players and a coach cant F that up. I would look at detroit coach dan campbell as an example of that. He's on the dumb list.

Super bowl wins are not all due to the coach or a QB, trent dilfer wasn't the reason Balt won that super bowl.

Tom Landry did it 21 straight times. And as you say Belicheat did it 19 times in a row, then it's Tomlin with 18 straight seasons.

What makes Tomlin's run arguably even more impressive is he's done it 18 times in 18 years, he's NEVER had a losing season.

For Landry to get 21 in a row he was with the Cowboys for 29 years.

BeliCheat was with NE 24 years, I think a few more somewhere else to get his 19 in a row.

While these other guys have had several losing seasons, Tomlin has never had a single one.

In these days of almost forced parity by the league that's pretty remarkable.

He's the GOAT. Does more with less better than anyone else in the game and does it year in and year out.

According to the stats, the best angle is to fade a team if a Black head coach takes over from a White head coach or play the team if a White head coach takes over from a Black head coach.

All 4 under .500 ATS
First off, Canales is Hispanic, not black, second, Pierce wasn't a new hire, he was coaching LV last year, I know racists are stupid so I'll tell you how many new black coaches there are, the answer is 2, not 5 like you posted
