10:30 pm EDT/7:30 pm PDT (CBSSSN)—Betting on the WNBA will take months off of your Life, but since you’ll be dead on the day you die, you won’t care that you died in February instead of September because you bet a few bucks on the Fever back in the 2000s. And from 2010 to 2020. And from 2020 until The Meteor v2.0 hits us.

The WNBA is a sport of runs by the two teams, with one usually outscoring the other in 3 quarters, but playing like ka-ka in a freakish quarter where they get outscored by 14 or something. And then it always seems to come down to the care-less nature of the last minute. Why do we do this to ourselves? Is it best not to watch? Why are these women so tall? And so dark? And so thin? And, most importantly, can we blame John Kelly?

This game between the Sparks (16-10, 7-3 L10) and Indiana from the Staples Center (Wood) sticks out from the UEFA EL Qualifying, MLB and WNBA games on the crap-filled docket on Thursday because the Fever (9-18 SU) have been playing poorly on the Road of late (4-9 SU) and getting outscored handily, despite Tuesday’s rally from a 15-point deficit after 1Q (NYL 28 IND 13) in Naptown, 82-76 (IND -5; NYL +200 M/L 5Dimes).

Yes sir, we want to sell you some Salvation, but only if you speak Spanish. ESPN, please use a lighter shade of grey on the Records so that is totally impossible to see. If we’re going to kill our eyes, let’s get it over with, bruh...

The Fever are 1-6 their L7 SU on the Road, beating only the lowly Dallas Wings, and losing by 21 (@ PHX), 5 (@ LV, OT), 8 (@ CHI), 18 (@ PHX), 13 (@ WASH) and 39 (@ WASH) in those 6 L’s. So, those L3 Fever Road games have been ugly Losses by an average of 23.3 ppg.

And a deeper handicapping dive, down where the fish have flashlights and shit on their heads, we see that Indiana trailed Washington by 14 points after 1Q in its last Road dribble (24-10) and trailed the Mystics (again) by 9 points after 1Q (25-16). We’ve become the children our parents warned us about.

On Tuesday night at Home, the Fever were outscored by 15 (28-13), so, a slow start in Lalaland seems logical here and a 1st Quarter play maybe for those who are deep into the WNBA and have “Outs” as JK always likes to say. “Outs” are sportsbooks who will take your action. When you “only” bet pizza money and recreationally, sportsbooks aren’t called “Outs” and bets aren’t part of some big-ass, blue-sky “Portfolio.” They’re just small pieces of shiny white paper that either end up going in the Garbage Can or back to the Betting Window.

My “Portfolio” has a Futures bet on the Red Sox for $10 at 25/1 in it. It will be in the aforementioned Garbage Can soon. It seemed very smart and value-laden at the time. I thought Boston would wake up in May. Then in June. Then in July. It’s August now. And no Sale, and The Tribe, A’s and Rays are better. Fuck the Red Sox. If you use binoculars in a Race Book, you’re my hero, sir. Keep bustin'.

Sorry, I have strayed again, but the point is LA should be more motivated, are at Home and need to start playing well consistently as the Postseason nears. In their last game, the Sparks looked good, covering ATS against the Lynx for their 9th straight Win at Home, 81-71, using spurts of 23-4 (2Q) and 17-4 (3Q) to open up the game.

Spurts are important in Sports Gambling and more prevalent in NCAAB, NCAAF and the WNBA if you look closely. And Little League and Tennis. Railbird knows. Identifying who is good Spurt-wise and/or who may be vulnerable Spurt-wise (Fever) seems wise to me in Sports Gambling. The Yankees and Nationals spurt at times. Teams used to go on 4-quarter spurts vs Temple in NCAAF back in the day when JK bet ponies, Jimmie Walker bet CFL and Vegas Runner threw handfuls of quarters in pay phones at the Stardust.

So Candace Parker, Chelsea Gray and Nneka Ogwumike will carry the scoring load against an improved Indiana side, and with Alexis Jones coming off a career-high 15 points, Chiney Ogwumike (9.9 ppg) and Riquna Williams (11.5 ppg), LA can get scoring from anywhere right now and really seem like a good play to win the WNBA Championship (13/2, VI has odds (link) but no source).

With Candace Parker, all is possible. And despite the nice seasons from Washington and Connecticut in the East and Las Vegas here in the Mojave Desert, expect the Sparks to rise to the occasion in the coming weeks. LA isn’t scared of the Mystics, Sun or Aces and will expect to beat them all should they meet. Indiana gives up the 2nd-most PPG in the league (80.8). I won’t bet this one either as it would require driving a car and dealing with mad Human Beans.
