7:07 ET/4:07 PT—The Tribe are unbeaten against the Blue Jays this season (5-0, 23 RF-9 RA), with Toronto scoring an anemic 1-2-2-1-3 Runs in those meetings after a 7-3 loss in The Big Smoke in Game 1 of this series.
Cleveland is 4-1 in the L5 Trevor Bauer starts vs the Bluebirds and the Indians have been playing some pretty good baseball of late (7-0 L7 on Road, 24-8 L32 overall) as they chase the Twins in the AL Central, going 8-1 their L9 (56 RF-27 RA) to now sit 17 games over .500 (68-41) and have a better overall Record than the Rays, Red Sox and A’s. Stand proud Chief Wahoo.
Toronto is 24-50 its L74 games overall and 0-7 the L7 Aarón Sánchez Home starts while Cleveland (13-3 in July) is an impressive 7-1 L8 starts by Bauer. Two good Trends for the Jays: They are 5-1 their L6 Games 2’s and 20-6 the L26 at the Rogers Centre when umpire Nick Mahrley is behind home plate.
Picking on Toronto is easy with such problems scoring Runs—the 9 it has in 5 prior games with Cleveland is 2 less than the Indians scored on Monday night. Freddy Galvis has the highest batting average for Toronto at .271. Mario “The” Mendoza “Line” batted .245 for the Mariners in his best season at the dish.
Because of Baltimore, Detroit and Kansas City in the Junior Circuit, Toronto (-83 RD, 444 Runs) has sort of hidden north of the border. This team has no motivation, no Offense and no chance of catching anyone while Cleveland has to steadily chase Minnesota (for now, they’ll catch ‘em)—a nice motivation factor and with bats Lindor, Smoak, Ramírez, Bauers, Kipnis, Pérez and Carlos Santana, have more than enough guys who are capable of getting the big hit.
