Why?
Six reasons, BigD:
1) I prefer Painter over Barnes. Take the strict disciplinarian (age 48) who demands effort on the defensive end of the floor over a guy (age 64) who has become a player's coach in the twilight of his career.
2) Purdue features the best player on the court in Carsen Edwards, a player who can take over the game single-handedly but whose team is better when his teammates are part of the offense.
3) No team in the country plays off their superstar better than Purdue.
4) Purdue's win over Villanova was devastating.
5) Tennessee blew a 25-point lead to a defensively-challenged Iowa squad and somehow survived in overtime. Now they face a complete Big Ten squad in Purdue, a team that gives up nothing for free on the defensive end of the court.
6) The Vols peaked a month ago while the Boilermakers looked fabulous in their two tournament games.
NOTE: No need to bet just yet. Purdue is catching two points at Westgate and Wynn Las Vegas right now. I doubt the game ever gets to 2.5 but don't take 1.5 when 2 is available right now.
