Extended Stay Places In Vegas?

What is the best option for someone that wants to come to vegas and stay between 2-3 months with the option of staying longer and do not have a vehicle? I haven't been in vegas in over 8 years already. I stayed in hotels when i stayed there an extended time but that I didn't like since I did not have kitchen to cook. I know someone here in this forum said he is staying at airbnb and then goes to another airbnb once every other week etc but that person has a car and doesn't seem to mind that.

I know back then, there were places like holiday royale and extended stay deluxe. But how are prices now monthly? Like if you stay at an extended stay deluxe in vegas now for 3 months, i recall 1st month you pay the tax but after 30 days, no tax on monthly stays right? But it should still cost you at least $1500/month at least right? I know back like 8 years ago, i heard you could rent an apartment for like $800 in vegas for a 1 bedroom easily and like $1000 for 2 bedroom... is that accurate? But prices now is much higher right? The other issue is you have to sign a lease for 1 year at least which im sure lot of ppl who want to come to vegas for an extended stay don't want to do because they want to stay 1-3 months or a bit longer etc.

What is the best option for someone who wants to stay in vegas for 1-3 months and does not have a car and want to be able to get to the strip within say 45 minutes max via public transportation? I know years ago, you could buy that monthly bus pass where you could take the deuce and all those buses but only bus i ever took in vegas was that deuce bus as i went from strip to downtown quite a bit vice versa.

Are there people that rent out basements that are furnished with kitchen? I wouldn't be a big fan of renting a room in someone's apartment but how much would that cost in general right now? I know back then i saw ads on craigslist where ppl who want to rent a room for liker $600 and lot of ppl would respond back. But this was years ago though. But are these apartments/house accessible to the strip via public transportation?

I know that in vegas, summerlin is way too far from the strip and you need 100% a car if you want to get to the strip. Also henderson is the same from what i recall.

So what neighborhoods are decent/okay and you can get to the strip via bus? And if someone is curious why i ask about bus, its because im originally from a state where we have public transportation.

Would it be easy to rent a room if someone's house/apartment with a private bathroom for like $800/month that is accessible to strip by public bus? I know there are ubers but if you take them twice a day everyday, that is going to add up etc. Thanks.

For most of the extended stay places many of your neighbors will be the lowest of the low. Drug dealers and hookers are common at many. If you must do it, look at the ones to the south, near the outlets. The ones on Trop, Boulder Hwy, and near the Strip are scummy at best, scary at worse.

You can find lots of rooms available for rent on Craigslist, but they won't like it if you are short term like that. Also, they will want some proof of income so you're not going to get considered by most. They will be rooms in a shared house so furniture and basics will probably be provided, makes it easy to get utilities going as well. Note there are no basements in Las Vegas, its built on a bedrock that is insanely expensive to dig into. So none of that mother in law basement option around. Airbnb might be an ok option, but the economics are mostly best for short visits so maybe a little harder to get a decent deal for longer term.

As for transportation, buses are rough. Not to say it can't be done because thousands make it work every day, but its really not recommended. Service is infrequent and doesn't go too far out into the nicer suburbs. If you are going to do it stay near the main roads to the Strip, Tropicana/Flamingo/Sahara because they at least have pretty frequent service crosstown. In any event I'm guessing you really should have a car. You'll not only want it for convenience, but it will get you to all the opportunities in advantage play and sports betting you can.

Yup Budget Suites Emerald Suites all those spots are trash nowadays .. thought I seen a new extended stay hotel across the street from the Texas Roadhouse Grill on Craig rd but that is probably tacky as well

I like the double decker buses which run frequently on flamingo. Also never had a problem with buses in Green Valley
area.

Craigslist posts several ads for rooms but some of the ads seem like a scam.

2017-- I stayed at Hooters for a week. $100. A night sat., sun. $60. A night rest of week. --$500. A week. Nice room. Sportsbook OK. Casino was dead. Decent location. This was between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I thought it was OK for a cheap hotel.

I don't think MEAT lives in LV any longer. Seems I saw something a year or so ago, residing in New Orleans or thereabouts.

Well said, WildBill.

It's even money to find a police car with flashing lights at at extended-stay location in Las Vegas.

Okay, I'm exaggerating.

Make the price +120.

Love the location of Hooters, now Oyo Hotel and Casino.

A William Hill book inside the hotel with MGM numbers across the street and CGT prices at the Trop.

Not to be confused with the Big Bus which charges tourists about $50 for an all-day spin around the city.

if you can find a place within a couple of blocks of the westgate casino you can get on the monorail to get to the strip. I think a 24 hour pass is $5-10.

agree everything said about these budget suites places. trash around the place, rooms look like you could open the doors with a strong punch, and the police are there quite often.

Make sure it's a few blocks at most, that's a really shitty area once you get a little east of it. The hotels just south are ok, not great. The Turnberry Towers next to Westgate are high end, won't get a deal in those.

Millionaires living next to hobos and winos in the Westgate neighborhood.

Turnberry Towers not far from Section 8 housing.

Funny about the casino there. Things have changed with new owners but about 4-5 years ago that casino floor had the most pathetic performance I had ever seen. Average visit for a patron walking through the doors led to $9 in gaming spend. They got more revenue from the people going to eat at Hooters. They brought in Steak N Shake, you know cheap dining for the Strip, and the value of patrons actually went up $2. It was the absolute worst casino in Vegas in terms of getting people to gamble. Most Dottys probably made more from 15 machines than the 300 machines in Hooters. What happens when your customer is base is staying at flea bag motels next door and have nowhere else to eat.

4 players at crap table. They only had one dealer to work table. We all had to shoot from end dealer was on. Stick man called it out returned dice. Pit boss was walking around watching three 21 tables, and one half of a crap game.

Has anyone here rented a room off someone and if so, that probably doesn't usually work out right?

Long time ago I did. Basically like college living, but it works in most cases. Craigslist has some good deals but rightfully so most will demand proof of income and a real job. If you are well funded offer them six months of rent upfront and you can get a room.

Well say you pay up front for 2 months. Say you play poker or bet sports etc. Do most owners have issues with that as long as you pay them up front ahead of time?

if you pay upfront I don't think they are going to care.

not sure how a security deposit works but I'm sure if you pay ahead of time they won't care if you are moving to vegas to work as a fluffer on a porn site.

Some will accept that, others won't. Renting a room is different than renting a house. You have to be concerned about the person and if you can reasonably get along. That's why many will say things like professionals or students only, they may not want the vibe someone who gambles for a living brings.

The scare from renting to a "professional" gambler is the act of them going bad and stealing a bunch of stuff to sell at a pawn shop.

Maybe the idea of just telling them you play poker might put them a little at ease.

I guess what you have to do is get on craigslist and start contacting people. Talk with them on the phone.
Hope you find something.

I do strongly believe this is a better route than renting from the seigal suites or some budget apartment.

Hey. Well I didn't thought about the 1st part though but that makes sense. I just thought okay we might have a gambler etc so its not a good thing.

But those siegal suites and budget suites are really bad right? Now if its an extended stay deluxe, those are probably much better right?

siegal suites and budget suites are always in the shady part of the town and have tons of hookers and druggies in them. you just need to drive around them to see trash laying around along with people with no shoes walking around.

no idea about the extended stay deluxe places.

That’s why they wouldn’t want a gambler. Income isn’t guaranteed and can bolt on a dime if bartelked in.

Extended Stay is far more expensive than the other places. The crowd is better because its often those who have been temporarily moved to another site by their employer, who pay for the place.

The extended stay on valley view was very nice and a decent clientele. Just as Wild Bill said above more expensive than the other places. The valley view location is a short walk to the Palms, Rio, and the Gold Coast. my info is dated maybe 5 years. Something for you to look into.

Vegas is bouncing back fast, if you get any better deals it will be for a very short time. Almost all hotels are open 7 days a week now. Virgin is open so that's a lot of jobs. Resorts World is opening in summer, many multiples more jobs added than Virgin. Fans probably at 50-100% for Raiders games and events at the new stadium. Construction really didn't stop. Vegas was hammered by the pandemic but its going to boom for awhile in the recovery so trying to get a cheap place to stay and live on the margins is going to find a lot of competition from people attracted to the influx of jobs and investment, not to mention people moving to Vegas because they can work remotely.

So extended stay places seem to still cost at least 1k plus a month right? But what about 1/2 bedrooms these days but in decent locations?
