The lefty is still looking for his first win with the Orioles. He’s gone 0-2 with a 9.53 ERA in his four starts with his new club, and had his roughest outing his last time out. He allowed six runs in just 1 2/3 innings.

Curious what happens with a pitcher's form cycle as the season progresses and the years go by.

Shields was "Big Game James" in Tampa Bay and Kansas City and a total bum in San Diego and Chicago.

Gotta believe some pitchers still go the medicine cabinet seeking some enhancements for their performance.

I've been cutting back on my baseball betting a lot the past few weeks, but one game I like tonight is Cincinnati. The Reds have the edge in starting pitching (which isn't something that happens too often with them) Daniel Straily, along with Anthony Desclafani, have been the Reds two best pitchers this year, and Straily's been in great form of late, pitching to a 2.68 ERA his last nine starts, and the Reds have won the last seven games he's started, he also owns a home ERA of 3.31, which considering the ball park he pitches in, that's pretty damn good, meanwhile the Rangers are going with Derek Holland who's making his first start in two months, so not sure what to expect from him. The Reds have also been playing some decent ball lately, going 11-9 their last 20 games, I know it isn't much, but when you consider how bad they are, 11-9 is pretty good for them. The Reds have also been swinging the bats well of late averaging 6.0 runs a game their last 10 games. I think this is a good spot to play Cincinnati, GL guys

Re: EYE ON BASEBALL for 8/24 WEDNESDAY. A lot of info.....

3 plays for Tuesday

Cleveland -1.5 +110 and over 7.5. Pitching, defense, timely hitting, this Indians squad as it all. Manaea will have a tough time while Salazar should breeze through a string finishing Athletics lineup.

ChiCubs -1.5 -140 Jake has found his groove again winning his last 3 coupled with an ERA under 3.
Rizzo and Bryant to make life miserable for Friderich, in a suddenly hitter friendly Petco.

Over the last 8 years no pitcher has thrown more innings than Shields. Too many bad miles on his engine.

I watched Shields in his last game. I don't remember the constant fidgeting and distractions, it has to drive the fielders crazy.

I wonder what the record for Grand Salami Overs is when James Shields pitches? It's 127 1/2 today. Have to lean to the over today.

Re: EYE ON BASEBALL for 8/24 WEDNESDAY. A lot of info.....

The Royals have given up a total of 9 runs their last 9 games (at least that's the stat I think I heard) Jose F hasn't been pitching all that great but he's usually lights out at home and the Royals bats have been pretty quiet during this winning streak.

KC/MIA under 7

Here's pitching numbers since the All Star break (minimum 40 innings). How about Dan Straily and Ervin Santana cracking the top 10?

http://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/pitching/_/split/182/qualified/false/order/false/minip/40

Santana is a surprise to me, but being a Reds fan, I know all about Strailey, I posted his stats in my write-up, the Reds have now won his last 8 starts, him and Desclafani are their only starters I trust right now.

Some key players not in lineup for early games: Rizzo, Kyle Seager, Ellsbury, LeMahieu

I've followed Straily a bit. He was a throw in from Oakland to the Cubs in the Samardija/Hammel for Addison Russell trade. Looks like he's been throwing strikes, which had been a problem in the past. Loved the Reds yesterday.

Im just keeping it. Jose f is in bad form. Kc crafty and winning left and right. Kc has a very good chance of winning

OK,GL,Im with Heis, think this is v low scoring ,so I suppose anything +230 in what I think is going to be low scoring is worth a shot.
