Fifth Annual NHL Handicapping Contest

WELCOME to our Fifth Annual NHL Handicapping Contest.

1). The entry fee is $100 U.S. Dollars and all winnings will be paid in U.S. Dollars. For Canadians, that amount is approximately $134.00. The top 4 finishers will get paid and the amount will be determined by the number of participants.

The breakdown of prizes are as follows:

1st place 70%

2nd place 20%

3rd place 10%

4th place gets their entry fee back.

2). This contest is open to everyone and is being hosted at covers.com

There are two ways to pay for your entry:

1). Send a Canadian email money transfer to sherwood888@gmail.com for exactly 134.17

Make the password or security answer purple

It doesn’t matter what the question is. THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS purple

2) Send a $100 PAYPAL payment to bushay44@yahoo.com so that he receives exactly $100 U.S. Dollars. Make sure you use the option of “sending money to family or friends”.

3). Once we receive your payment, you will be sent a link to join (you can also copy and paste it into your browser) and you will be guided through the process for joining this pool, including registering on the website if you need to.

Here are the rules:
1). You must make EXACTLY 200 picks, (no more, no less) to qualify for a prize. If you make less than 200 plays, you will not qualify. Once you reach 200 plays, your season is over no matter how long is left in the season.

2). This contest will deal with LIVE LINES at COVERS and will include sides and totals. The contest will start on Monday, October 8 and end on Monday, April 1, which is not the last day of the season so make sure your 200 plays are in by April 1.

PLEASE NOTE: Your name will not appear in the standings until you make at least one play. Once you have made your first play, your name will appear and every wager placed will automatically be for 100 units.

3). There are no minimum or maximum plays per week, day or month. You need 200 plays and it is up to you how to distribute those 200 plays. Pushes will not count as plays. In other words, if you pick a total under or over 6 and it lands on 6, it will not count towards your 200 plays.

5). If a game is not played within 24 hours of scheduled time or at the original venue listed, then the selection is not counted.

6). Deadline for each game will be puck drop.

7). In the event of a tie in the standings, prize money will be split evenly between the tied teams. There will be no tie-breakers.

8). Standard Las Vegas rules apply on suspended games and any other situations that aren't covered here.

9). Order of finish will be determined by units won.

10). Plays made the last day of the contest may be hidden to ensure fairness.

11). In the event of the site being down, which is extremely rare but it could happen, you will not be able to make plays until the issue is fixed and the site is running again.

12). Multiple entries are not allowed

13). The standings and all picks will be displayed at all times and will always be accessible at covers.com and at this website here: https://www.sportswagers.ca/fantasy_hockey/

One last note is that we are still clarifying rules with the Covers team so there could be a small adjustment in the next day or two and if so, we will clearly post it here.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE and have a great year.

We are expecting a prize pool of around $7500.00 or 75 players.

The great thing about participating is that for a small investment, it keeps you engaged all season long and you also have a great chance at a large payout.

Covers doesn't allow more than one account. Were checking into if you can get one by them, I guess you can have more than one entry. As of now, there's no other way around it.

Covers have their own lines now? How long until covers starts selling the picks of the top dogs in the contest in some form or another?

The recurring question: Will salami lines be part of the contest?

Why shave off the first week and the last week of the season? I could see the first to get more signups, but why not include the last week?

Have to start and end the Contest on a Monday over there. If we started the Monday before we would have had exhibition games. Plus we took the last couple games of the season out of the equation where teams were sitting starters and goalies. Better this way.

Sad state of affairs.

Are the Sharks the lightning of this year?

Could always end it on the monday AFTER the end of season... no playoffs games on that Monday ever. All games of the season should be equal opportunity to be on as far as I am concerned.

You don’t think you can win by missing ohhhhhh4-5 games of a season long contest? Help me understand. 7 months of games, some 15 a night and your worried about 4-5 games you had circled on your calendar? Is that it? Lol. Your joking here right?

Actually, over the last 9 seasons, roughly 40% of my reg season profits come from the first two and the last two weeks of the seasons, so no, I'm not joking, this is a legit concern for me, significant enough to pass on the contest. Thanks for running it, good luck this season.

Would be a great final SJ vs TB

I made a lot of money with TB last year. Thinking SJ will be similar this season.

Will look forward to your thoughts this season, NHL CENTER ICE!!

Exactly, could be the difference of winning or losing contest.

Bushay or sherwood would you post the thread at Covers that describes this Covers contest? is that where large % of the estimated 75 entries will be from?

Are you okay with the contest going on at a diff forum site?
Seems a bit of a kick in butt even if for whatever reasons.
Would be happier if this contest ran on a neutral contest
host site and all related to EOG.
Why allow a Covers or other affiliation unless it is part of
a master plan / future for this forum. I have nothing against
Covers but this is EOG.com & Covers is Covers.com

Anyhow after you offer your comment on this, as it's not
too late to change the deal and remain self supporting,
I will follow the plan to support the cause.

Respectfully,
Bimmer

Without looking, has to be Sherwood. Guys been in the money the last 4 contests. Including winning last years. Sherwood is the best handicapper on the planet and not many even know that. And doesn’t charge a dime for his picks. He’s the internet’s best kept secret.

How big of a problem is it for folks that all totals are -110 both ways no matter what the current line is? I guess it's a level playing field but it still sucks

So far it's not been an issue at all but with a new site we are playing at were taking things one step at a time. It's a level playing field for all in the contest. Not sure why you're concerned after you already made it clear you were not playing though. Let alone your reason being you made 40% of all your profits in the 1st and last few weeks of the season then proceeded in your own pick thread to be in the negative that first week or 10 days. You also never showed that in any contests in the past so I know that was all bs from the get-go. If your not interested in playing nobody's losing any sleep over that. At least be honest with yourself and the rest of us.

Bushay

We're trying to make a fun contest that's fair for everyone with a cash prize. We can't just cater to one contestant's needs. Every year you cried about including props in these contests when it was spelled out clearly we were only doing sides and totals. Couple times we did make an exception for you but that never seemed to be enough. No problem. Find another contest to play in Goon. Nobody's begging you to play. Or won't in the future. This year with another late start we eclipsed last years late start contestants totals and were not done yet. Always there's that one guy who's never happy no matter what. lol.

As far as I can tell, the contest is still open for signups... I never said I wasn't playing, I said there are issues that could stop me from playing. It's your prerogative to think whatever you want, you should know that past results are never an indication of future returns.

Personally, I think that the contest belongs to this forum because it is where it started, but you are running it so you do whatever you want with it.

The original version of the software was using the scraper to get odds from Pinnacle and the salami was part of it. When their feed stopped working, they switched to odds from another sportsbook and the salami was no longer part of it. Did you hear me complain about it when the contest rules changed in the middle of the season? Don't think so. I even offered to give them access to the pinnacle lines through my account when the site was down but that wasn't needed. I have never asked for special treatment, I just like to know the rules up front so I know what I get myself into. If I join a contest, it's to have fun.

The only reason the contest changed mid-season was cause Pinnacle changed things upon us and we were forced to make the best of the situation. Which we did with only one complaint. From guess who? The rest had no issues and we never heard a peep from them. You're actions sure had a funny way of relaying all the fun you were having. That's certainly a new one on me.

Sign up, pay the small fee and join the contest based on a for entertainment purpose only.
If you do well and get in the money, great for you. If not you had your thrill.

You want serious, etc etc, bet day to day.
The guys that won the contest over the years were those that went fishing with the +180(+) dogs.
Too hard to get the separation from the pack without playing and winning with dogs.
Not my style so just going to do my thing
