Re: Have other sportsbooks been pushed out re: contests here?
Yeah, that's what I hear...and it makes sense of course (even though all reports indicate they've had great football seasons).
I say open up to them with more restrictive requirements about putting action in...instead of 25%, make it "have to put $100 in action in the prior week or receive no prize". I'd have no problem with that, I think most wouldn't, and that obviously keeps the books from having to give away to complete free-rollers.
Or make the prizes significantly smaller for the no-action-required/no post-up contests...$50/$25/$25 or something so the noobs (which is who a lot of contests are going after from the books' perspective) can get a chance to win real money at books and try them out. I know a free play is how I initially found Phoenix, and while I've won off them I have also deposited several thousand there so obviously the marketing strategy does work sometimes.
At the least, let's start getting the groundwork laid for a Masters contest (or, what would be totally bad-ass and I'd be up for...a post-up season-long PGA contest with say 10 of the biggest tournaments from the Masters through the PGA) :yay
Just my two cents.
