How are these books ever going to make money?

I just hit my third exact score bet through FanDuel CO where I would have gotten my $50 bet back if I didn't win. I have won over $2k off these so far and there is almost no way I'll ever give it all back because I wouldn't bet those without the risk free element. I bet almost all boosts or promos with them and Fox Bet, put in a very occasional bet at Rivers only to take advantage of their deposit bonuses, and haven't even bothered to get an MGM or DraftKings account yet waiting to see what bonuses they offer come NFL season. I know these guys are trying to get market share right now and therefore are willing to lose money, but in a market as competitive as Colorado is I don't think these guys will ever make the money people expect for a long time, if ever. The stocks are going to the moon on the hype, but I think over time those stocks are going to see a big reckoning when people ask where's the profit.

Is ScoreBet up and running in Colorado yet? They are worth a look in my opinion. Not the largest menu but once nba/mlb going they throw a few player props out per game and in NJ you could find occasional slow mover and off line.

the Score is a gold mine. Love that place... they put opinions in the line .. and slow moving games too !!!

When they get here they will be like #15, will be lost in the shuffle. Let's see what offers they make to get potential customers in the door.

ScoreBet is banking on drawing players through their popular Score app...in NJ there are links in Score app which take you into the gambling app. I guess they are hoping people recognize the name which attracts rec guys looking for a place to get down.
They have reg bonus $300 or so cash new players. Also occasional perks, free $20 bets now and then, free $10 parlays etc, little nuggets that make losing gamblers happy.

the score & draftkings have the best lines in NJ

How do recreational focused books make money if they offer the best lines? Is that just a reference to the fact that they shade their lines making them better for sharper players? Or do they just bar anyone with a clue like William Hill does?

Draftkings & TheScore put their opinions in on some games & the other games move off of money. Fan Duel , Betamerica, Golden Nugget & Resorts move off of pinny in new jersey

Speaking of ScoreBet NJ, this popped up

With baseball going i plan on clearing $2k with this with 5 bets a day

5% return on WAGERED amount up to -300

Existing players only. They are going to get wrecked.

Example betting -110 avg

5 bets a day for 60 days
165/150
8.25 return per bet x 5 = 41.25 per day x 60 days = $2475

5% Cashback up to $2,500
Specific Promotional Rules
Start earning 5% cashback on cash bets over the next 60 days when you make your next deposit (“Promotion”).

  • Participants must have a valid theScore Bet account as of Wednesday, July 15, 2020

Damn more small print. Now looks like 5% back on losing wagers only

  • Participants who cash out of any wager that was used to unlock the Bonus will have the corresponding amount of unlocked Bonus revert back from cash to the Bonus balance
    • That amount may be unlocked again by placing a cash bet while the Cashback Period is still active
  • Offer may only be redeemed once

Now i am thinking i WOULD get the 5% back on all wagers. Term "cash out" above might be those who taking partial winnings mid game that they offer when your team is up.
Will have to get clarification from them.

They will make money hand over fist with the amount of donkeys playing their books.

Shop around for best lines? Donkeys don’t do that-They remain with the same book based on convenience

How inconvenient is it to open another app or webpage? If they required a casino visit to sign up or fund I could see the argument. I think thats a factor in Nevada, especially the smaller players and the tourists. In Colorado it's so easy to have a bunch of books and fund them in 2 minutes that I don't think the lazy non shopper idea holds water, especially as the media advertising ramps up as it has.

It seems as if your intent is to brag rather than ask a question. Your $2k isn't going to break them and they aren't worried about a $50 bettor.

Nothing about bragging. $2k isn't a big deal to me, but if lots of people do this these guys aren't going to make much money in this market. And that's what I pay most attention to, how these operators make money and secondarily how the stock market or investors react to them. I think the sports guys are blowing a ton of smoke now about how they need to lose a lot as an investment today for market share. I work in the gaming industry and most are buying into this, but I don't see a path to profits anything near what these guys are selling. So if you are betting the sports and internet betting stocks , just watch out soon.

I think you're being short sighted lumping all the big guys together.

For example: Flutter stock vs Draft Kings stock

Flutter a much, much better investment Imo.

We shall see. Sports betting just a very tough biz I don't know if you make enough for the market to justify these high valuations and expectations no matter where your focus is. Casinos make tons of revenue and serve a lot more adults then just sports bettors yet they are getting killed right now due to the pandemic.

flutter 142 million net USD in 2019

Hmmm let's see, today I can go to FoxBet and get:

NYY -138
Was +115

Or I can take 15 seconds to open up my SBK app and get:

NYY -125
Was +124

Nah I'm just recreational player, screw line shopping at the less advertised book.
