I don't follow hockey

I don't follow the sport, so someone who does please explain Tampa/Columbus to me
It’s not that uncommon for the top seed to lose. It happened three years ago when Nashville beat Chicago. Hot goalies and hot special teams (power plays, penalty kills) and health win in the playoffs.

But all year this Tampa Bay team destroyed opponents. Tied the regular season record for most points in a season. Columbus got hot towards the end to creep into playoffs but the way this series has gone down has to be one of the more disappointing things I've ever seen in sports. TB not only had talent but experience. Their best defenseman is banged up but still no excuse.

What was the series price on this one going in?

Anyone see this coming and bet the Jackets? Don’t follow hockey super close but it seemed like Tampa was considered the overwhelming favorite. Not your typical NHL 1 seed. A dominant all season, heads and shoulders best in the league 1 seed.

This is more than just running into a hot goalie too. They are giving up four goals per game. Not just losing, but getting their ass kicked. Crazy.

saw on a VSIN show the hockey guy ( dont know who) said after game 1 his adjusted series price was Columbus - 105...i think you could still get columbus at around +200 at that point

I know the nature of the sport lends itself to more upsets than say basketball, but this Tampa team was one of the best regular season teams in history in terms of points, since taking a 3-0 lead in game one, they've been outscored 12-2, for a team as dominant as they were all season, it's crazy they're on the verge of getting swept in the opening round

It was much lower than I thought because I asked about it on a forum and was advised Col or pass. I want to say -260 range. It’s nothing like NBA series pricing for a point of reference. I expected -380 to -420 range.

It’s really easy to play goalie when you have a 1st period lead. TB was a huge 1st period over team. It’s like hitting, you start pressing when you don’t jump out to the lead, Col makes you pay for the D’s pressing. When you are winning also, you can play more physical and get loose pucks in the corners.

My guy shaves lines, that looks far more realistic.

this will be the 6th time in 20 years that the president's trophy winner will lose in the first round. remarkable that it has happened that often.

The run starts tonight...... lot of feistiness at the skate, Lightning are finally ready to play.

Made my first and only series bet tonight on them here in game 4, I think they get it done.

Tampa 5-2.

If I didnt know, I would say TB is the 8th seed.

They are getting outworked and outhit.

They got lucky on the review. Maybe a half an inch outside

it was legit.

CBJ played real well

Might have to put them in some long shot parlay

They were physical, which is always a good sign in the playoffs

If Calgary gets knocked out it's the first time in NHL history they said the top 2 Conference winners get knocked out in the 1st round in the same year. I would have thought it would have happened at least once in the past.

Avs just skating circles around the Flames. Kinda comical actually. Think the series ends game 6 back in Colorado. MacKinnon is so good...

Yep, best player on the best line in the NHL right now, I think your right if Calgary happens to win next game which isn't certain
