You may be right locally....

I was told by a few offshores they were being flooded with Teasers as the SIDE action was two sided...

I'll know more tomorrow...

An outright AZ win would have been very kind to them...

bingo, that's what I was saying , but FROG assured me that teasers are a very very small part of the game

that may be so bet wise, but money wise that is a different story

books that hung the 6.5 were the winners, ala CRIS

books that hung the 7 were the losers, ala OLY

Vegas/NV books lost $2.6 million out of a $92 million handle last year with the NYG ML win...I guarantee that they won money this year...final Vegas/NV results should be released tomorrow or Wed

Absolutely. If all teasers don't hit it might have been their best SB ever in Vegas. Whenever the dog doesn't win straight up and the favorite doesn't cover the #, it is a party for the books here in Vegas.

You have NO CLUE to what you are talking about. Many casinos here in Las Vegas LOST money on the Super Bowl.

Dave,
You're the one with "no clue" here today. Ray didn't say that some casinos may not have lost money yesterday; what he's saying is that overall the NV books will make money on yesterday's SB. The results will be made public either tomorrow or Wed in the LVRJ and/or Gaming today and I expect you to issue an apology to rayc at that time(but I'm not holding my breath)!

from today's LVRJ....

"The Hilton closed the Steelers as 61/2-point favorites. "It was the best-case scenario for us to have the Steelers win and not cover," Kornegay said.

The MGM Mirage and Wynn closed the line with Pittsburgh favored by 7, and Rood and Avello said they needed the Steelers to cover. The bottom line, though, was business was good and the game was better."

And I will again. For the Super Bowl, teasers are not that big of a factor. The biggest whale type bets are side, total and especailly ML. They were not dropping that ML in Vegas for easy scalps offshore for shits and grins. And with a zillions props, three page parlay cards and sweet vig on everything else, the teasers were nowhere near what they are the average game percentage wise. Plus, I think you had a ton of bettors buying up to +7 1/2, and down to -5 1/2 and -6. Factor that into your juice equation. Two of the contest type props, the biggest two were just gold mines. MVP and first player to score TD. I doubt one book lost on those. The Pitt wins but does not cover was the best scenario, as long as it was below 6.

Any book in Vegas that lost yesterday has only themselves to blame. Like Caesars using -220/+160 ml, they deserve to fukin lose and hope they did. How can they not use -220/+180 when they could scalp over a million dollars worth offshore at better than +200. Unreal how incompetent some of these sportsbooks really are in Vegas.

I quit playing Caesers when they went to a high vig store. It was like they put up a not interested in sportsbettors sign. I knew all of the books managers at Ceasers Tahoe. Even pompous ass Kivi. They said once the beancounters came in and told them how to run the book the show was over. They had the biggest book in Tahoe, then cut it in half for slots, then cut another section off for more slots, then sold the book to Fountainblue. Another one bites the dust. It got to the point I never even shopped for thier lines because I always could find better.

ray,
It's not so much incompetence as it is the Vegas books knowing their clientele. If these fools/sheep will bet the AZ +160 ML anyway, why should Caesars offer them a fair bet? Caesars probably had some bad memories from the NYG ML win last year and didn't want any AZ ML bets this year. In fact as Travis (OSU) said yesterday, shortly before kickoff they were offerring -210/+160 and he bet the Pitt ML and they moved it to -220/+160. No "knowledgeable gambler" should ever bet AZ ML at +160 since a +7 dog is usually anywhere from +220 to +260, but that leaves a lot "casual bettors" to bet it anyway, so you could say Caesars would be incompetent NOT to take advantage of this phenomenon.

Re: I suspect the SB was not kind to the Bookmakers

All I know is I was out on the strip last night, went to Flamingo, Harrah's, Venetian, Polazzo, Wynn, Encore, and Hard Rock, ate and drank with many a fine people, most of whom were wearing Steeler gear. The crazy thing is I did not meet one single person out of the many I talked to that didn't have the Cardinals +7 or the over.

It was just like a night at the Rx.

Barney's, Bill's, Lakeside, The Sahara, I was counting cards and playing underage at 16. I tell ya, the nicest place was up in Incline, the Hyatt. I'd drive there just for the scenic drive. The Biltmore? Stateline is a bonafide disaster waiting to be pushed aside. Going to convert all those carpet joints to ski lodging vacation resorts. Once Leroy's got into the Hor, Harrah's bought Harvey's and glommed onto thier better sportsbook and closed thier own, and bean counters took over Ceasar's, the show was over. I never had to wear any disguises. They comped me to hang around and balance them.

Agree 100%. Got married there. In Harvey's chapel overlooking the Lake. You hike up on the trails on upper Heavenly way up on Kingsbury grade you see some vistas that are probably unmatched in the world. I had my kids in tow last trek and had to slowdown and shorten trip. I'll walk the entire trail to the lakes this spring. Maybe the summer for my 10th anniversery. That and the Na Pali coast on Kauai before the hurricane are my two most beautiful spots ever.

one more day to wait for final tally...

Nevada sports books expect to profit from Super Bowl betting

Reno Gazette Journal

Nevada sports books likely cashed in from Super Bowl XLIII, but the profits still are being counted.

The final tally on the amount wagered in Nevada's sports books and the profit margin for casinos should be available Wednesday, said analyst Frank Streshley of the Gaming Control Board.

But it's probably a safe bet to say the sports books are back in the black.

Northern Nevada oddsmakers said they anticipated a profit if the favored Pittsburgh Steelers won the game but did not cover the seven-point spread.

That's exactly what happened, as Pittsburgh's last-minute rally to beat the Arizona Cardinals 27-23 in Tampa, Fla.

The books received a lot of action on the Steelers to cover the spread and on the Cardinals to win outright.

Those who took the Cardinals against the spread were the only bettors to cash winning tickets.

Last year, the New York Giants' 17-14 upset of the New England Patriots caused Nevada sports books to take a net loss on the Super Bowl for the first time in 13 years.

Re: I suspect the SB was not kind to the Bookmakers

I care more about the offshore sports books and the majority of them have confirmed that the SuperBowl was not kind for them...

One book had a 2% profit whereas other lost anywhere between 5-12% of the handle...

Since many online books have better teaser odds than Vegas, they got buried there...

And they had a much better price on Cards money line, where as Vegas was offering huge discount on Steelers money line.
