"The Illinois General Assembly is about to rock the nation. Members of state legislatures are normally not considered as having the ability to decide issues with a massive impact to the nation as a whole. Representative Karen A. Yarbrough of Illinois' 7th District is about to shatter that perception forever. Representative Yarbrough stumbled on a little known and never utlitized rule of the US House of Representatives, Section 603 of Jefferson's Manual of the Rules of the United States House of Representatives, which allows federal impeachment proceedings to be initiated by joint resolution of a state legislature. From there, Illinois House Joint Resolution 125 (hereafter to be referred to as HJR0125) was born."

Bush Impeachment - The Illinois State Legislature is Preparing to Drop a Bombshell

That's the headline of this article by Steven Leser.

It's not news that this route to impeachment exists for many who read these diaries. There is a petition campaign going on to urge state legislatures all over the country to take it up. Illinois appears to be the first state legislature that has a bill on the docket, and that IS news. The Democrats control this legislature, and if they succeed in passing it, it will likely snowball all over the country.

Read this next part. The US House will be OBLIGATED to take up impeachment if this bill passes in the Illinois legislature, and if more legislatures follow, it will nationalize the 2006 elections around this issue AT LEAST and possibly frighten the Republicans to toss Bush overboard.

"Should HJR0125 be passed by the Illinois General Assembly, the US House will be forced by House Rules to take up the issue of impeachment as a privileged bill, meaning it will take precedence over other House business."

I want to urge everyone who reads this to flood theIllinois State Legislature, Democrats and Republicans, with calls and emails to support this bill. No matter where you live, let Illinois legislators know that the eyes of the nation are turned to them and supporting them every step of the way.

Let's get this thing done. Read Steven Leser's whole article. He has posted the bill on the page I linked, and it has ELEVEN grounds for impeachment, and when you read what they are, you will surely be moved to support this historic and courageous move to save our republic. Edit: Just occurred to me: Someone needs to put the word out to DNC, moveon.org, AFL-CIO to put some money behind ads to run in critical districts once this thing gets rolling

There are now FOUR (that's FOUR) States that have legislature initiatives ON THE TABLE or under consideration for the impeachment of Bush.

For those who don't know, one of the ways Impeachment can be initiated is if a state legislature issues CHARGES OF IMPEACHMENT to the U.S. House of Representatives.

From http://impeachpac.org/?q=node/716 :
In the House there are various methods of setting an impeachment in motion: by charges made on the floor on the responsibility of a Member or Delegate; . . . by a resolution dropped in the hopper by a Member and referred to a committee; by a message from the President; by charges transmitted from the legislature of a State or territory or from a grand jury.

One thing is that A GRAND JURY can trigger an impeachment. A grand jury simply needs to INDICT him and impeachment hearings begin. Hmmmm... let me think for a moment, who's investigating crimes of the White House right now.... OH YEAH, Patrick Fitzgerald!!!

And wouldn't you know it, Bush has been IMPLICATED AS AUTHORIZING THE ILLEGAL DECLASSIFICATION OF CIA INFORMATION.

Fitzgerald could simply ask the Grand Jury to Indict Bush, and WHAMO, IMPEACHMENT.

I think the only question is now, how many state legislatures will follow suit? Oh, and THEY DON'T NEED APPROVAL FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE STATE GOVERNORS!!!! Bwahahahahah!
