Nice interview Cy18.....Marisa was a very likable gal and was one of four females that worked in Ron's office in the beginning....but her relationship with Tony wasn't always all peaches and cream....Marisa and I sometimes didn't see eye to eye but she was a good person and a good mother to Tony's daughter...

In the middle of reading her book 'Dangerous Odds' now. It's interesting, but unfortunately not as good as Dink's 'Lay the Favorite'.

I guess as a sportsbook guy I wanted to hear more about the gambling and less about her relationship with Tony.

+1 I finished it a couple of weeks ago and those are my thoughts exactly... it wasn't a bad read just not what I expected.

Way too many holes in the book, how about the big mistake she made in giving the player 3 instead of 3.5 and the game landed on 3 and the player won instead of lose.. That was just awful to read. I'm pretty sure when you lay 3 and it lands on 3 it's a push. These kind of mistakes along with her being a rat didn't sit very well with me. Pretty terrible read in my opinion.

Yes i I understand that, my point was that in the book she claimed that a player laid 3, his team won by 3 and the player won his bet! I really had to question whether she knew what she was talking about or not after that. I guess any idiot could answer phones and write bets but was she knowledgable about the industry she worked in? By reading this book I'd have to say no she didn't have a fucking clue about the business. Maybe vijeo can prove or disprove my opinion.

She was just an average clerk on the phone and missed changes...(it was up to the clerk to make changes when the head guy made them verbally) very important during the last hour before the games started....phone customers really liked getting a female on the phone because the thinking back then was maybe they could get over on them....remember, there were no computer wagers back then....actually had customers keep re-dialing until they got a weak clerk on the line....I'm sure Dink or Loman can confirm this.....back then Sacco had some very capable clerks working for him, some who went on to become head lines makers and part owners of sports books....

It was very in-depth. She had a lot diaries I believe to truly pull from. I found it to be quite interesting and give an early view of offshore sports gambling. But she was fair showing the good, bad and ugly.

She thought our interview was the best she had conducted. I find her to be an interesting woman who went through a lot and survived. There are some who wouldn't have survived her situation. I give her credit for never giving up.

females are't weak just unknowledgeable about sports--perhaps that's the same. a bettor could ask a question i wouldn't want a female clerk to answer, as it might be a setup for a claim and in a pph shop the player will win the claim. make it a point to always have the call passed to a knowledgeable gringo

I've worked with some very good women clerks during my years in offshore....CRIS has some great ones in their front row.....even worked with a couple that could have run a shop if necessary....12io4j2w90

i did take that from the book as well. She seemed to be an extraordinarily strong woman, stronger than most women I know that's for sure. She let tony walk all over her way too much but she still stayed strong it seemed.
