imagine how much higher it would be if the people who get shutout in Hammond would have gotten their bets in

Some of the south will still cross the border but the north and northwest which dwarfs the south will go to DesPlaines

South will still go to Hammond. Don't forget, cant bet on Illinois colleges in Illinois either.

Blue Chip Casino (Fanduel) is easily half Michigan bettors.

not yet, nevada changed their mind on Nevada NCAA. ... some NYC books in the 70's and 80's would not take IVY league....now they take everything

It took Nevada over 40 years to change their mind on allowing betting on in-state NCAA schools (Gaming Regulation 22.120(b)). Don't hold your breath.

I wonder what pct of the Indiana money is from Chicago area residents?

An informal survey of cars in the parking lot at Ameristar Casino in northwest Indiana revealed about 75% of the vehicles featured Illinois license plates.

Look for Illinois to stop the flow of money to Hammond and East Chicago with a casino and sports book in Calumet City, Illinois.

Roads are being widened on Torrence Avenue near River Oaks mall.

With Amazon and Walmart forcing the closure of shopping malls all across the country, some casino companies are purchasing the real estate for land-based casinos.

All that Wisconsin money is going to flow south. Wisconsin will be one of the last states to ever get sports betting. Besides better against the bears is free money right?

That was when senator McCain of Arizona tried to get college sports betting banned in Nevada.
GCB then allowed books to take action on unlv and unr. Believe it was around 2000 or 2001.

It takes Illinois a day to pass it, then it takes a year to decide how to divvy up the money.

The 430m looks great in the news . % of the revenue makes it look small. . At the end of the year adding up all the months . That is something any state could use along with the jobs

Gotta win the license first. A casino will go into the south suburbs in a couple years, but still won't be decided on until around September. Meanwhile who cares where there are books? Illinois will be no different than everyone else, 85-90% of volume will be bet online/moblie.

Pennsylvania also rockin' it!

Pennsylvania sportsbooks round off year with $343m month

Pennsylvania online and retail sportsbooks posted a record handle of US$342.6m in December — and crossed $1 billion in online bets since launch — to cap a year that generated nearly $1.5bn in wagers.
With a full year of online sports betting ahead and an increasingly robust offering of operators, Pennsylvania could more than double that handle in 2020.
Dustin Gouker, analyst for PlayPennsylvania.com, said: “That last two months of 2019 began to show us the real potential of the Pennsylvania market.
“The launch of DraftKings in November, adding one of the best-known brands to Pennsylvania, helped push online betting forward. And now that the online market is maturing, it is entirely possible that 2020 could bring in $4bn or more in online and retail bets."
In December, Pennsylvania’s sportsbooks accepted $342.6m in wagers, up 8.2 per cent from $316.5m, according to official data. Before November, Pennsylvania had never accepted more than $200 million in a single month.

PA is making all the money. For all the hype about NJ, PA's high tax rate means the state is about to get more from sports betting than NJ or NV will.

These states posting these nine figure number has to help get more states to legalize sports betting. These numbers are going to be larger.

Who will be the first state to get over the 1 billion number?

Probably NY in a few years whenever they finally get mobile. I don't think NJ or Nevada can get to 1 billion in handle in a month. I'm doubting FL or TX will approve it for awhile and I doubt PA will get enough play with the tax rates disincentivizing the business for operators. CA getting mobile seems even further off than NY. So NY is it, they might get ramped fast with all the play happening in NJ now getting NY patrons used to betting on mobile.

Latest in Michigan is the regulators said no online betting until 2021 because they have to write regulations. They got pushed into a corner by the casino operators, mainly the tribes, and did this solid for them to give them a chance to build up the business before they face real competition. Some states got regulations done in 2-3 months, others are dragging their heels and its all politics. Notice they don't seem to think it will take that long to do regulations for land-based books in casinos. What in the fuck is the difference in regulations? Besides, do they think New Jersey is not regulated well? They could just COPY their regs and be done in a day.

Fuck the fucking tribes, they are your enemy if you are a gambler, especially on sports. They are trying to fuck up California, Washington and Arizona right now blocking your rights to bet on sports the same as other states can by forcing patrons into driving to their monopoly casinos and making you bet there because "We don't think the people would support online gambling". Total utter bullshit by the tribal gangsters.

Seems like the bigger the state, the harder it is to get going.

more people in PA then NJ

And Ohioans are crossing the border to bet in the Commonwealth.

But the kiosks are tricky. I've heard of many mistakes with wrong tickets, obviously operator error by the bettor working the kiosk. But if your finger gets near the keypad, a number may come up.

Add "tribal gangsters" to my EOG glossary.

Seems like the bigger the state, the harder it is to get going.

Find a state with a big tribal gaming business and you probably won't find mobile sports betting there. Iowa has the biggest but the commercial casinos are bigger there. Everywhere else its this bullshit about being cautious and saying the people wouldn't support online. It's pathetic like everyone can't see right through them. So you get nonsense like New York where you can bet at a casino located hours from most of the population, but good luck getting online going. That same shit will happen in California and Florida.

There's no liberty or freedom if you want to gamble, just bullshit monopolies or no gambling period.
