Sanchez, who had two years remaining on his rookie contract, received $20.5 million in guaranteed money, according to a source. It means he's all but certain to be the starter for at least two more seasons. He had no guaranteed money remaining in his old contract.
The contract also includes $40.5 million in new money, bringing the five-year total to $58.25 million -- plus an additional $10 million in escalators.

The $58.25 million gives Sanchez the seventh-highest financial package among NFL quarterbacks:+clueless

Sanchez isn't worth a shit and NY fucked up big time making this idiotic move.Set your watches it won't be long until we count down the days until Rex Ryan is fired as coach of the Jets.Sorry Rex but you have to have a good QB to win in this league you can't expect the defense to do everything.

I like how Sanchez sits down on the bench with no one around him in close games even maybe after he had thrown a pick looking like he didn't have a care in the world with his arms up looking like Forrest Gump or Jimmy Buffet or something just taking it all in.

It must be nice to make 10 million a year or whatever it is and not have a care in the world

A LOT OF TEAM OWNERS AND GENERAL MANAGERS HAVE THEIR HEAD UP THERE ASSHOLE ALSO.

I WOULD HAVE LET SANCHEZ GET TO FREE AGENCY AND THEN HANDED HIM HIS WALKING PAPERS.

In the last 40 or 45 years since the league started playing Super Bowls i think the Jets have made it to the big game once and that was decades ago.Meanwhile you have the Giants who have been to at least six or seven Super Bowls winning pretty much every single one they went to except there might've been one they didn't win.The difference in these two organizations is night and day and while both teams are New York teams the Giants for the longest time has always done things much better than the Jets and even when the Jets do get a bit of luck going their way it seems like it always ends up backfiring on them for some reason. This latest move with Sanchez and then keeping malcontents like Santonio Holmes shows the ownership for the Jets is clueless. With a different quarterback and a few different moves here and there the Jets could've easily gotten to the Super Bowl a couple times here in recent years but things like drafting Mark Sanchez was just bad no matter how you look at it.The Jets had some pieces there on the team to make a run but depending on Mark Sanchez during that window of opportunity was just plain stupid.
