How about Dak electing to kick off rather than “defer.”

Rams will get the ball in the 2nd half too.

Actually, I just saw a clip where he does say defer, but the ref asks again and he says we want to kick that way. I think the ref screwed this up. Kind of like Jerome Bettis on Thanksgiving.

I find it hard to believe that the NFL failed to use their own logic despite a description gaff'e on the part of Dak. Talk about your technicalities.

Now they are giving the Cowboys the ball. I think that is the right decision.

He clearly said defer first. The ref didn’t hear him, and Dak didn’t understand what the ref was asking and probably assumed he was asking which way they wanted to kick. Need to get the ref some hearing aids or better yet get some refs under 70.

In terms of fairness and regulatory standards, both teams earned opening possession s in the second half. Even under the circumstances, the miscommunication had no idea impact on the likley outcome.

It’s a stupid rule anyway, the ONLY way you would ever choose to kick would be with the assumption you are receiving in the second half.
