Mike Trout was given the AL MVP on Thursday. Mike Trout did not earn the MVP in 2019. He is the "Most Outstanding Player" in the American League, if not all of baseball, few can dispute that. He was not the "Most Valuable Player" in 2019, few can dispute that. When you play (up to) 162 meaningless games and are eliminated from post-season contention by April 1 it is very easy to put up nice stats. Alex Bregman, Marcus Semien and DJ LaMahieu all played (up to) 162 meaningful games and these 3 should have finished higher in the final tabulation. Trout is a good guy and worthy of his popularity but he wasn't the MVP in 2019 and few can dispute that.
